Christmas in July

Has anyone done Christmas in July or is anyone doing it this year? Any tips or thoughts on it? It sounds like a great idea and there is a whole team dedicated to it. It just feels very overwhelming right now and I am not sure how much of a discount to offer.

I am going to just offer a discount, probably 15%, and probably (if I can get inspired to make something) do an ornament at a great deal. I have the idea in my head, but its not working out on the metal. I will have to keep playing.

Christmas in July never made any difference in my sales. I keep my Christmas items up all year so I might offer a discount. I haven't decided for sure yet.

Just in case anyone is going to do Christmas in July and you have pricing variations, Etsy on Sale won't work on those listings. Just something they haven't figured out yet, I guess.

Summer may not be really busy in sales, but summer is crazy busy up until my holidays in Aug.
Plus right now with my pricing the way it is, there is no room for discounts.(that's if I want to make any profit)
When I come back from Holidays in Sept. I'm going to make a few ornaments for xmas but I think that would be it.
I suppose if you are going to do Xmas in July then you have to start working on it in Jan.? LOL

I wish you good luck if you choose to partake, I'm sure there are a lot of early shoppers out there waiting for a good deal.

I decided to try it. I didn't do a huge discount (10%) and I still feel okay with my profit. I am not doing anything Christmasy, but my towels would definitely make great gifts!

Coalchild - I agree that summer time is busy with everything else. It makes me grateful for a quieter shop right now, although I seem to still have steady sales (once a week or so). It is giving me time to enjoy my kids and the summer and create new things also.

Good on you for being brave enough to try it Tanya. I may be brave enough next year if I get some higher priced lines in my shop with enough wriggle room on prices. Let us know how you get on. Very best of luck with it :)

I just ended up putting a coupon code in my shop announcement. I don't have patience or energy to go tag my whole shop with something temporary.
People are using my code, and that's ok, because its really been slow.

I'm 35 away from 1,000, and I want it to happen this month!! So impatient!
