Re: Anime Conventions / Events

I go to PAX East in Boston which is a big gaming convention. It's like how E3 used to be. Awesomeness.

I've also been to Anime Boston, but it's not that great in my opinion. Otakon in Baltimore was better. I love cons!

Re: Anime Conventions / Events

I'll be going to several cons with my dolls this year - really too many to rattle off! So my studio got together and made a list online: http://hookedonchibis.blogspot.com/p/con-calendar-2011.html

AB can be good or bad, it depends on what you want from a con. I really love that it's close, and I love being in the AA (I'm on the waitlist, but if i make it, it'll be my 4th year there). It's not so great if you're more of a gamer than a fanboi/girl (that's true of me), but it's a great groups of cosplayers, the artist community is generally very friendly, and the lcoation is VERY safe (unlike some in other cities - AX is on a fine block, for example, but if you get lost in the area, it can get very dangerous very fast!!).

Anyone else have opinions on their local cons? (I'll be blogging my experiences as I have them, so my opinion will keep coming - but I encourage keeping up with my blog if you'd like to hear about it, because I'm very good at forgetting about group forums!)

Re: Anime Conventions / Events

I have a table booked in Setsucon, which is at the pennsylvania state college and Anime Boston. I hope to have one at Tekkoshocon, which is in Pittsburgh, but there is HEAVY competition for that one. Tables fill up within half an hour.

If you're on the West Coast, Anime LA is in a few weeks. It's a great small con! (And tables sold out in about a minute this year...)

Orccon is a gaming con President's weekend.

Anime Conji is in San Diego in... erm, March or April. It's a small con, but really awesome. They might still have tables availible.

Fanime is in San Jose Memorial weekend. The tables haven't gone on sale yet.

Anime Expo is 4th of July weekend, and tables are already up for sale. It's an awesome HUGE con.

Re: Anime Conventions / Events

I have went to the New York Comic Con / Anime Con last year with my husband. It was a lot of fun, but PACKED! We had a one day pass for a Saturday and there was so much events going on. Freebies FTW :)

The next one for this year will be on October 13 - 16, 2011 at Jacob Javitts Center. http://www.newyorkcomiccon.com/

Re: Anime Conventions / Events

I go to San Japan here in San Antonio. It's every August. It started out as literally a handful of kids that cosplayed downtown but now they pretty much take up a whole hotel and feature some great voice actors and artists. I can't wait! Still trying to figure out who to cosplay as.......

There is a con I go to every year and it's fantastic. It's in San Jose, and it's called FanimeCon:
