Shipping

Anyone figure out the shipping yet? Generally my shipping is about 2.00 bucks but for things like clothing that I don't want crinkled up I do 5.00 shipping. How do I have Supadupa reflect that so that it doesn't appear that if you pay 30.00 for a necklace you will have to pay 5.00 shipping in reality it should only be 2.00. Does that make sense at all?!

Is it easier just to figure out the weight?

Re: Shipping

I do it by weight--it's more accurate.

Re: Shipping

Mine is base on the dollar amount spent! $0-$6 $6.01 - $10.00 and so on

Re: Shipping

Mine is based on weight. It's easier that way. Even if your shirts are not at the weight that you want for that price range, you can put in a different weight value (slightly higher) for your shirts to reflect the price it will cost to ship them.

My shipping works like so, I measure out all sorts of various items with the packaging required so I get a feel for how much an item weighs. Most of my jewelry pieces with packaging weigh just a little under one ounce which is about 0.07 lbs. So I have a shipping weight set up for one ounce at $3.00 which includes the cost of shipping, the confirmation costs and the packaging/materials cost. If I want to ship out a small hat which weighs approximately 3 oz, I have another profile set for a higher weight which covers that. If your shirt possibly falls into a 3 oz category but because of the method of shipping would probably cost a bit more to ship, you can input the weight of the item at an equivalent weight/shipping price which reflects that.

Did that make sense at all? It made sense in my head...

Re: Shipping

Yes, you list an item as weighing in at the needed shipping price even though it is actually lighter.

Okay I think I get this, although I feel bad at not responding sooner! Sorry!

Re: Shipping

I'm doing mine by weight, too. I got so confused trying to work out rates for all the countries that for now I'm only shipping to NZ, Australia, USA, Canada, UK and Ireland.

I'm hoping to open my shop next week (I've been working on it for hours a day this past week) but I knew I'd never get it open if I kept worrying about working out shipping to everywhere.

I'll slowly add other places to ship to once I've opened, but the above countries are where my Etsy and other online sales have all come from, so made sense to start with them first on SupaDupa.

Re: Shipping

kawaii, how are you doing your with ounces? I could only get the weight field to reflect pounds.

Re: Shipping

anybody know how to indicate ounces? As it stands, if I set it up by weight, I could end up overcharging on some orders...

I hope someone can give me input soon!
Until then, I've decided to do a free shipping promo, lol.

Re: Shipping

You need to convert your ounces to a decimal fraction of a pound. For example: 4 oz = .25 lb Kind of a pain but it's the only way I can see to do it.

Re: Shipping

Great- thanks Linda.
Yes, a pain, but I'll do it.

I'm really liking most every aspect of SD. This has been my only major rub, but that's a suitable work around.

Re: Shipping

Can you do shipping profiles?

I ship my switch plates to only Canada and the U.S., as they don't work in other countries. I have other items that I want to ship world wide.

How does that work?

Re: Shipping

Mine is by decimal point (.oz) It gets confusing but I only offered shipping to countries that purchase from me on etsy because I already know what to charge. Until I can have more time to figure out shipping for other places I will add additional. I stil have no word on when Shipping will be simplified.

Re: Shipping

I do mine by price for now. I would love to have shipping work the way etsy does by assigning a profile to an item. Right now I am only shipping domestically. Waiting to see if shipping gets simplified. If if doesn't happen in the next few months I will work on international.

Re: Shipping

Gina, I don't think shipping can be separated by items. I wish! Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
