Welcome and Status Update

Hi Everyone,

Welcome to the new StylishHome team!

It is November 10, 2011 and I wanted to give everyone a quick status update as we are about to get rolling with this new team.

We've nearly completed production of our first eCatalog. It is approximately 25 pages of terrific Etsy finds focused on outfitting your winter home. We'll announce it here when it goes live in the next few days. Everyone with an item featured in the catalog will receive a separate convo from us.

We'll be inviting in many new team members shortly once the eCatalog is published.

If you haven't yet, please consider subscribing to the forum digest (link on the lower left corner of this page) so you can receive email updates from the team via Etsy (we don't receive access to your email). We plan to make the forums our primary means of communication to the team.

Speaking of forums ... please don't start new off topic threads as this will clutter everyone's email. We'll post a Q&A section shortly and other relevant threads, but we are not going to have threads for new listings, random treasuries, etc. There are plenty of good teams devoted to those activities. Thanks for your understanding on this. We think this will become more clear once we get underway.

We are excited to get things underway and are looking forward to making this team, and more importantly all the teammates, a success.

The catalog looks wonderful, I had intended to go to your site sooner and do whatever there for listing, I just have been innondated with work so I'm going to check into it and start updating. Thanks for keeping us posted, also is there an email notification when you update here? or do you have to do that manually? Thanks Debbie

PS you have an app on Etsy for StylishHome.com , and I tried to use it before, but now I'm going back to it and I don't see a connection. I signed up but it doesn't seem that I'm on the vendor side of things. Could you email me and clue me in to what I'm missing?

Great questions Deborah.

For email notification, you just need to click on the link "Subscribe to email digest" located on the lower left side of this teams pages. Doing so means you receive a once daily email from Etsy recapping the conversations going on in the forums for that team. The forums and the email are our primary means of communicating with the team.

Also, I believe you were our first teammate (yea!) and when you joined we didn't have all the team info in place. You might wanna take a read of the "About this team" page.

Yes, we are an Etsy App developer. The short answer why you aren't seeing your listings is most likely because we can only list the most recent listings and those change regularly. Generally, everyone's most recent listings get shown on the site, at least for a short period. There are some other possible reasons, but I'll send you a convo on it.

Update Tuesday November 22nd.

First, thanks again for the great response and nice comments on the first edition of the catalog.

Later this week we'll post the results we've achieved with the first edition. I think everyone will be very pleased with the exposure they've gotten.

We'll also put out more information on future edition plans and how you can participate.

Lastly, we'll organize the forum area a bit more with logical forum threads and close down this topic thread (later this week or early next week).

In further reference to Deborah's question: I was wondering the same. How does my Etsy listing appear on the StylishHome site? How and where would my pottery appear? I did see a Artisan designed Decor area which would seem to be a logical place.

The catalog looks great - good curation, and seems like great exposure for those featured! Very curious to see the results of this, and where StylishHome will go from here.

Hi Karen,

"How does my Etsy listing appear on the StylishHome site?" -- StylishHome is an Etsy application developer which means we access the listings on Etsy via the Etsy API, allowing us to show listings on our site. We do this automatically several times per day. You needn't do anything. You can find more information about the developer community here http://www.etsy.com/developers

"How and where would my pottery appear?" -- Etsy listings are placed in our shopping catalog (the "Shop" section" of StylishHome) in categories and sub-categories matching Etsy categories. We also divide them into Handmade and Vintage on the page. We have manually mapped Etsy categories to our categories since Etsy sometimes has categories different from ours. For example, Etsy might have a crochet pillow category and we have simply a pillow category. Your bowls might get listed in our bowls sub-category under decor http://www.stylishhome.com/Shop/Decor/Bowls. This assumes the Etsy seller categorized their listing and categorized it correctly. Also, we only list items pertaining to our categories. For example, a seller might make bowls and knit clothing, but since we don't feature clothing, only the bowl listings would get pulled in and displayed.

Hi,
I just joined the team and I am very glad.
I had a short view in the catalog. (I need time to see it in detail, that I will do it later today) and I post it to my fb page, because I REALLY LIKED it.

I also need time to read all your posts and discussions to undestand as many as possible.
I hope you will feature some of my items, as I beleive they are quite unique and they include a big-big part of my heart and soul.

Quick update here... We are putting the final touches on the 2nd edition and should get it published shortly. So get ready to promote it! We have lined up outreach to over 50 sites we hope will cover it.

Additionally we will Storify.com the 2nd edition, which means we'll be curating a story about it from the mentions on your blogs, Twitter, Facebook and Google+. This creates a link from Storify to everyone who promotes the 2nd edition. You can see an example here: http://storify.com/StylishHome
