New to the group

Hi -and thank you for the invite. I haven't been active on Etsy for a few yesrs now - so Im happy to be back. I've been playing in clay for about 6 yrs now and Im very active. I currently joined Potters Council and Visual Arts Exchange here in the Raleigh area. I have a home studio where I teach classes and make a variety of pieces.... My pieces thrive on the oceanic side of things but my specialty also are Angels and quilted pottery ( which you can see from my profile picture). Please see my website and facebook for more current pieces.... I m looking forward to the SPA - and will dive deeper to see what you are all about...Love and Mizpah!

Welcome and thanks for joining. We're about connecting and promoting. Please dig around, there are a lot of amazing potters in the group and many like to share ideas and opinions. Just read through some of the threads. Also, please visit www.studiopotterarchive.com. It's a great resource for professional potters and students of pottery. There is also a working potters directory where you can request to be listed, just go to this link: http://studiopotterarchive.com/about-spa/help#potters (It's free to be part of the directory). Welcome to the team, Susan

Re: New to the group

hello there. and thank you for asking me to join your group. I am self-taught in my pottery ventures having only had a high school art class where we worked on pottery, I fell in love in an instant. I have been playing in mud ever since.
I love my own style of contemporary folk art. It is unique and whimsical.

I have owned a gallery, been both a buyer and a seller of such fine works.
Now, I wholesale to galleries my own pieces and found my happy place!

Have a wonderful life ! :)
Nicole

Re: New to the group

Thank you very much for inviting me into the group as well! I've been making pottery for 18 years. I had two studio potter apprenticeships working in fuctional high fire stoneware. Due to my 1970 electric kiln which I dare not fire above cone 04, I began producing decorative and sculptural terracotta wares. At first it was a curse but I have managed to grow through the limitations and have some fun with it. My husband and I plan on moving to our 5 acres near Alfred, Ny and building our off the grid studio and home this summer. At some point I will be cabable of firing up my olympic cone 10 gas kiln. Since we will be living in our camper while we build I'll be off the clay for a while. I'll be taking up some painting to satisfy the desire to create.

I look forward to meeting all of you and becoming a member of this creative community.
