Its exciting and daunting getting started. The photos have to be good quality though...which can be hard with pottery if items are glossy and you're just starting out. I started with one full page of items, read up on titles and tagging, and just get started. Initially I didn't have any sales until I used Facebook and told all of my friends that I started a shop and was having a sale. Have a good story to tell - something about why you are making and selling pottery in the first place. Once you have the Etsy shop and page of items, then you start promoting using email, social media, blogs and Etsy forums. Before you post items I would check out other Etsy sellers who make work similar to yours for pricing ideas, and other comparisons. Unfortunately photography and promotion are almost half of the work so just making beautiful pottery isn't enough. Best of luck to you!
