Karan Witham-Walsh; art teacher, potter, mom, wife, friend, sister, daughter...
Karan is a 1989 graduate of Miami University (GO REDHAWKS!) in art education (also Choraliers alum!) and has been teaching art for 20 years now.
Karan makes wheel-thrown stoneware pottery and some glass jewelry. She has two distinctive lines of glazes - one being the sgraffito line which is hand carved and labor intensive, and the another line that includes several colors of Coyote glazes. The Coyote glazes are rich, food-safe glazes. Karan usually does a few local art shows a year, although the past few years she has taken a break to redevelop some of her glazes.
In August of 2009, Karan was diagnosed with breast cancer- and after treatment she is now declared cancer free... Because of this, Karan has incorporated a line of pink ribbon jewelry- and pottery of which she generously donates 50% (OR MORE!) of the "Pink Ribbon" purchases to breast cancer research and education!
