Bio:
I'm an artist living with my dog and some friends here in ever changing New England.
Art, for me, is two things.
First... making art is being present, fulfilling my basic need to create. It is doing so with a fullness of purpose and presence. I really get into making things and that helps me feel calm and happy. This comes through in the work as I leave marks of the process throughout.
Second... sharing art is asking the world to be a little more like what I'd like it to be. How will someone use the objects I make? Why do they matter? Experiencing my work should feel pleasantly strange. And if people stop and think for just a moment about that experience then at least I've taken them outside of their routine.
As far as how I place my work historically? Well, I think a lot about Dada, Wabi Sabi, and 60s conceptual work. But I also think about the way that my dad plays the piano. And how leaves grow. You know. Inspirational stuff.
Oh, and i don't always like to be too descriptive of the artwork in my summary of each. I wouldn't want to rob you of that experience by telling you what you're "supposed" to feel, right?
