A new member introduction.

Hello all,
I am relatively new to Etsy, but I have been a studio potter for eight years now.
I started working with clay in junior college and finished with a BFA in ceramics at University of Central Florida. I am a very community oriented clay artist. I think we need to help each other out because there an endless amount of knowledge that would take eternity to learn alone. Please take a look at my shop, I would appreciate any feedback you may have on my work or the presentation of my shop. Also if you have any questions about my work I am very open to sharing my glaze recipes and processes. I'm glad to be a part of the Studio Potter Archive and i'm looking forward to sharing with you all.

Beautiful work Gabriel. I work as a biologist in my spare time, and I'm currently gearing up to teach a course on comparative vertebrate anatomy (all the weird, wonderful ancestors of critters with backbones). Anyhow, your 'creatures of primordia' series is awesome

Thank you David! That course sounds awesome, right up my ally. The Creatures of Primorida series was partially inspired by strange creatures of the ocean. In particular creatures from the deep, past were the sun light penetrates. Good luck with your course! Check back with my shop if you would like to see more of the series. I still have about 30 creatures sculptures that will be making their way onto Etsy. Peace.

Re: A new member introduction.

Gabriel...lot's of fun! Sculpture in clay is something I tend to gravitate to, so with this in mind, I simply can relate to your Primorida series -- especially #8. I also was wondering if you have the Gnasher in a size a bit smaller? Will always enjoy seeing more of these, so keep 'em comin'. --Paul

Re: A new member introduction.

Hi Gabriel,
The descriptions of the pieces on your shop sound very interesting. Since I don't see I am not sure how they look but sounds fun. I make lots of creatures myself as well and mostly attach them to my functional pots.

Re: A new member introduction.

I'm new to the group.. HI! ;) I've been playing /working with clay since I was a kid.. My first wheel throwing class was at a lady's house in her garage with e kick wheel. That was when I was 9. Ever since then, I've had my hands in mud in high school.. then college.. and now that my kiddos are a bit bigger, I can spend some time back with clay.

I had access to a wheel when I belonged to a studio, so you will see just a few pieces in my shop that are wheel-thrown. However, we have moved and I do not have a wheel and have not found a studio (location/time) that works with my schedule, so I am a hand-builder for now. I enjoy that too!!

I'm originally from Florida, graduating from FSU. I'm married to a career Army guy and have 3 children. We have lived several places, and we are currently living in San Antonio, Texas. I love Florida and Texas, and am so happy we have been able to "land" here.

Great to be a part of this team of potters! :)
