Re: What do you study and what do you make?

Oh! I forgot to mention my name... opps! :) My name is Sophia! :)

I agree Jessy, I'm hoping this will become a haven for student crafters! :) I know when my next University year starts in 6 weeks then I will need it! And I want to get it going well by then!

I was thinking, I may also each month give every member a challenge/task/idea where we all make the same thing and see how everyone gets along! It could be something new each month but something different that we've never tried etc!

What do you two think?

Re: What do you study and what do you make?

I'm Caitlin and I'm studying technical communications at MSOE in Wisconsin :D I do mostly bridle and saddle charms for horses, but they work like regular key chains too. I've been branching out more into jewelry lately, and I'm really liking doing chain mail work, I hope to do more of it soon!

Re: What do you study and what do you make?

Hey I'm Kerri and I'm studying Communication Studies and English at Appalachian State! I'm so happy there is a group of students who I can relate too! I feel as though I have been researching all night about selling on etsy, and I just started my account. I'm nervous that I'm not going to sell anything, I guess I just expect things to start selling immediately, which is not how this works.

Ohh and I make all kinds of jewelry, kind of just picked it up in the last few months and people have been asking me to put it online, so I finally got around to doing it through all the schoolwork :)

Hi Caitlin, wow I've never heard of bridle and saddle charms! That must be lovely! I used to ride, but haven't since I was 16 (7 years now) Its good to hear you are also branching out to other things. I've only just started my Etsy up so I'm trying lots at the minute to find something that I can say 'Yeah, I'm really good at this'! :)

Re: What do you study and what do you make?

Hi Kerri, I'm glad you like the idea of this team! :))

I've only just started up too! I think I need to find a lot of ways to promote my shop, to get more shop and listing views! But I know it'll get there eventually! You're right, things don't happen over night here. But it's still exciting every time you list something new! :)

I'm hoping when my new Uni year starts in October, that my crafting and Etsy shop will be a good way to de-stress from all of the Uni work!

Re: What do you study and what do you make?

Hi - my name is Dagmara but in handmade world people called me Black Ladybug (in Poland Czarna Biedronka). I'm study dentistry on Silesian University of Medicine in Poland.

Already I sell my works on Pakamera (something like Etsy but only in Poland) there is more photos of my handmade : http://czarnabiedronka.pakamera.pl

My blog: http://czarnabiedronka.blogspot.com

I buy Jarmilki - shoes with are made in Europe (not China) and hand-decorated them (painting, sewing in lace, making brooch for it etc) and the sold it to the lovers of this shoes (The shoes were very popular throughout the European history and their design haven't been changed since almost 40 years !)

Have a good time looking on my works

They're slowly gaining in popularity and I'm one of the very few who makes them :) Most other companies just use pewter/silver charms, I'm the only one with actual beading. We're much more popular in the English world, but we do make western themed items like hat bands too! I should list some of those..hmm. Aww, sorry to hear you don't ride anymore! I don't know what I'd do without riding!

Re: What do you study and what do you make?

I used to go riding every Saturday, from a wee bubby! But then I moved and all the stables around me are either private or are £30+ for an 30-60min. And I just can't afford it :(

Always dreamed of my own horse as a child :) One day maybe!

Re: What do you study and what do you make?

Hi! my name is Katherine and I'm studying Integrated Science as well as being certified to teach at the secondary level. This means I can teach any high school science class available instead of just bio or chem...

I make sculptures out of wire, paintings with water color, photographs and my new idea is to make door snakes to block drafts made from sweet upholstery remnants. :) I'm almost done with my first one and will be posting it this weekend. I'm hoping they will be a hit.

I'm thinking of making stationary at some point too.

Gotta pay those bills right? And being creative helps relieve the mundane rigor of student life.

Re: What do you study and what do you make?

Hi Katherine, welcome to the door! Your new idea sounds fab, can't wait to see it. Do let us know when it's listed!

I have alsorts of ideas in the pipeline, also in hope of paying the bills. Just finished making 12 felt mustache brooches, ready to photograph and list tomorrow. (All different colours, so different listings, yawn)

I definitely agree, being creative does relieve the mundane rigor of student life! :)

Re: What do you study and what do you make?

I'm Angie and I'm majoring in English Literature, which doesn't give me a lot of time to work on art, but when I do have off time I manage to make whatever comes to mind out of upcycled materials. Though I really enjoy sculpting, I've decided to stick with the upcycled theme since it takes less time.
Hopefully I'll be able to fully manage my shop while taking classes!

Welcome Angie!

Luckily for me, I know from the previous year of study that I will have enough time. But I'm hoping that when studies become a strain and I become stressful, my crafting will be a way to de-stress and relax, as well as using this team! :)

Re: What do you study and what do you make?

Hello! Just joined!
My name is Jessica, I go to California State University of Los Angeles, and I am a biology major, forensic minor, trying to get my bs, and then move onto a masters program for forensic science.
I don't have anything up on my site as of right now, but I enjoy making victorian/goth inspired jewelry, and clothing. I also make jewelry out of glue (sounds weird, I know, but it's actually really pretty!)
Glad that there's a place for students who enjoy crafts. It gets hard though balancing an artsy taste while being a science student :/ feels like two completely different worlds that never come together for me.

Re: What do you study and what do you make?

Hi Stephanie and Jessica, glad to have you both join the team!

Its great to see you are branching out Stephanie! There's such a big market for everything and anything out there and if you can hit more than one target then that's really good!

Jessica I completely agree! The time old debate of whether Psychology is a Science or not! But, I know exactly what you mean. It'd be lovely to see some of your work? Particularily the glue jewellery!

Re: What do you study and what do you make?

Hi! I am Bea.

I am just entering my final year of my undergrad in forensic biology - I guess this is similar to lackosanitea. In my spare time I like to make polymer clay animals (mostly cats) and jewelry. I can also knit and crotchet, so my next projects will hopefully be in this field. I am quite new to etsy and have only recently started to join teams. I'm really pleased I found this one!
