How do you sell to students?

Hi, it kinda took a while to register that my jewellery and items are more geared towards other students (fair play, as I'm a student too so I am influenced by prices) and I wondered how to advertise to them. So far, I thought of:

1. Facebook (bust, I don't collect friends and people aren't interested in me)
2. Twitter
3. Leaving black/white business cards and A5 posters of my products and shop name around the university
4. Advertising in the paid notice board of a shop in town that most people look at

That's as far as I've got ^^;

Help? Ideas? Please? :)

Re: How do you sell to students?

I know some schools have days where vendors take over the tables in student centers. You could pay the fee, have a nice little display with a raffle giveaway or something and see how that goes.

Other than that idk. If you are a student yourself, get involved in clubs that have a lot of events & socials that you could possibly sell at.

Re: How do you sell to students?

Um...I'm not in a school, I'm in university ^^;

We don't have anything like that here, it's only officers and usually the head of student events who arrange anything of that nature to raise money for specific reasons (charity or funding) or they have a craft fair around christmas with sellers. That's the only one I could try to get involved in really...

I can't get involved with clubs... My financial situation and living outside uni has already lost me friends (due to being unable to travel in) and I don't want to pay fees to join clubs for one month...in exam month. I will be doing more clubs next year though, when I live in the uni town again, so I'll keep that one in mind, thanks.

Re: How do you sell to students?

I attend a university as well. Not trying to offend, but school was just a shorter word to write.

Both of the universities I attended for my undergraduate degrees had vendor days like that, but to get involved you would have to contact administration to find out not other student groups. The current university I'm attending for graduate school doesn't do that type of thing at all. Maybe yours only does it in Christmas, but it doesn't hurt to find out.

As far as clubs, all of the institutions I attended/attend had some sort of free clubs. Whether it was a campus wide student activity type of club that had free events and concerts or just SGA itself.

I'm sure you can find some free ones when you get back, even if it takes some searching.

Good Luck.

Re: How do you sell to students?

Sorry, I was a little snappy there, I apologise ^^;

I've contacted the uni and the system is different over here, unfortunately... No free clubs at all, except the ones that are run privately but might meet on the campus (there was one writing group). Clubs are £15 for unlimited (non sports) access, I think, here. I think I will try to arrange something to grab the freshers attention next Sept/Oct! :)

Thanks for the help :)

Re: How do you sell to students?

facebook works for me
i've separated my personal profile and my page
so promotion is way easier
also when you wear some of your creations it's easy to promote them
every now and them i make some jewelry for me
this is the best promotion i believe
especially when your pieces are eye-catching:-)
