They are right ... I have used opticon in the past but yes many steps and have to bake in the oven and rub the stones while setting up. Maybe good stuff..but a pain to use.
I just started cutting Bumble Bee and have been very happy with the results. Every now and then while I am moving from one wheel to the next the hair on my arms stands up and the cab keeps getting better and better. That is happening with the Bumble Bee.
I have read that you should absolutely NOT stabilize it. I have no idea why. I would probably look into it before I tried a stabilizer. Although I was recently cutting the most fantastic cab out of Bumble Bee and on the 2nd wheel it cleaved in half. I guess it just wasn't meant to be. Wish I had a little super glue on that one!
One more thing. Take precautions when cutting. There are natural poisons in that particular stone...arsenic. I wash my hands after each stone and change the water. Some suggest a mask and rubber gloves.
Hi Bill Rio Grande as well as others sell what is called super glue Accelerator. This is stuff that when sprayed onto the superglue will set it almost immediately. It comes in a little bottle with a spray mister plunger top. actually super glues are classified as cyanoacrylate's. Rio sells several formula's including slow set and thicker and gap filling formula's. I should probably try these and get better informed to what I need at this point in time as to what I do now. Different materials require separate needs.
