Re: what do you think it takes...

It takes a LOT of work and learning. I would like more sales but I'm satisfied that I've been found from the thousands of shops when I have had a sale.
I know I can't devote as much time as others do.

Re: what do you think it takes...

To be successful in anything it takes time and practice.
Now to relate those two things to business:

Time: You must work hard and focus on developing a great product, then you have to take the time to learn everything your product is made of inside and out. That way you can talk about your product with confidence to a potential customer.

Practice: Practice your SEO (Search Engine Optimization) focus on finding the perfect search phrases. Make your titles POP! Practice your wording in your descriptions and tags.

Remember you have to be confident in what you do to truly be successful. Would you shop at a store that didn't have a signage? How would you know what that store sells?

Think of the first page of your shop as a storefront if you don't have your signage displayed (website banner), or great your customers and make them feel welcomed (shop message), then how can people expect to gain customers?

They might gain some but not as much as they could be gaining unless their shop shows the pride, hardworking, and dedication of a hardworking, confident owner.
