Questions and Advice

I thought I would make a thread where you can ask questions and other team members will give advice!

I will start it off!

What days of the week do you think are best to list new items?
Silly question but just curious which days you see the most trafffic in your shop excluding a BNR day that always brings traffic.

Re: Questions and Advice

This is a great question! My sister just sent me something all about this!
The one part on this reads:

The key to selling anything fast is to get your ad seen by as many people as possible. Now researches have pinpointed when online shopping peaks: Sundays between 3 pm and 6 pm - when folks are done with weekend errands and want to wind down and treat themselves before Monday - and Wednesdays at 4 pm - which is when employees look to break up a mundane workweek. To take advantage, post for-sale ads during these peaks and time online auctions to end during them.

Re: Questions and Advice

Here's another about selling online:
Tip: Online shopping soars during bad weather since folks are stuck indoors. So if you notice a not-so-nice forecast plan your online ad to appear during those days.

Re: Questions and Advice

Great advice Lynda. I haven't noticed lately but when I opened my first shop the few sale I got were Sunday evening. Sounds like Sunday is a good day to list our goods! Thank you!

Re: Questions and Advice

Good advice, although the bit about the weather maybe a bit difficult with etsy being all over the world...
Does anyone have ideas about how to increase traffic and ultimately sales?

Re: Questions and Advice

Promoting on other sites such as facebook, twitter, pinterest, blogs. I'm sure there's a million more out there, I just don't know of them.

Re: Questions and Advice

Hi Cosetta you can try a BNR to get a sale. You got to find a good one like the tt teams. You buy from a shop to get featured and someone might buy from you. Make sure the BNR has carryovers and is active. You don't make money but gives exposure so they say! I been loosing money but I am doing it to get sales in my shop. Plus I got alot of cool things in them. Now I have lots of positive feedback because sellers are going to give you feedback that is good. I feel having some positive feed back will make potential customers more apt to buy.

Re: Questions and Advice

I signed up for stumble and even forget my password because I know I have not time for that unless someone can tell me they really get sales from that. I waisted too much time on flickr. Has anyone had success with stumble upon?

Thanks Kim hows it working for you?

Re: Questions and Advice

I don't evn remember but I think I will try and find myself on it. Like I said I don't even remebr my password i just signed up a few months ago and forgot about it. Funy thing every place to promote yourself requires promting yourself on that sit. Take flickr I kept downloading my pictures and had to post a desription and post in groups on flickr I had to join and add contacts and i spent so many months on that and never saw a sale from it. Anyone had luck on Flickr. When I first opened my shop a nice lady told me it was great and she gets most her sales from flickr . I had no luck has anyone tried promoting on flickr swith positive results?

Etsy has made printerest easy and i am trying that now

Re: Questions and Advice

Circles
Circles, I think is a good way to get views and hopefully a sale.
There's a team here named The Circle Clicking Team, I was just over there reading about circles.... my eyes are rolling in my head now!
But there's a ton of good info over there!
(I'm not even going to try to explain what I've been reading.)

Re: Questions and Advice

I was in the circle clicking team and left but maybe I shouldn't have. I look for the best teams to be in and only stay in the ones I have time to participate in.

Hello!

I am new to this team, and it looks great! So supportive!

Sorry if this is a silly question, but what is BNR?

Re: Questions and Advice

WELCOME TO THE TEAM! WE ARE A NEW TEAM AND ALREADY GETTING VERY ACTIVE. I have high hopes this is going to be a really great team. We already have lots of great members!

A bnr is buy and replace. the curator makes a treasury and you buy from one of the spots and your shop get featured and I say I could go on explaining. Some people think why would I buy to get a sale. FOR me I like to buy my gifts from other seller so I buy something I like and want. Other seller are going to give you good feedback and it is good exposure and good for you shop to get views and positive feedback. You have to read the rules!
Usually it goes like this $5 buy in so if I was featured you have to call out so in caps if you wanted to buy from me you would type GHOSTGAP and wait the curator would say dollvillenyc OK TO SHOP GHOSTGAP. You would post what you bought from me and I would be taken out and you would be added. Best way to learn in to go in one. You don't have to buy you can just chat with us in one. The time travelors teams are awesome BNRS and if you would just like to see what one is like Sassysteampunk one of our leaders is always in them and I go to them often. You could convo sassy to convo you for the next tt teams bnr. let her know you just want to see what it is like. Some are boring and slow paste. TT team are fast and fun. Plus Alura was very nice and helpful to me when I didn't know what to do in my first BNR that happened to be a TT Teams.

Re: Questions and Advice

Tagging is very important. So is the first two sentences in you description and the first few words in your title. This is what Google picks up on.

I have really been working at my tags, descriptions and title in both my shops and I think it has really helped. Haunted Swamp is going to get more hits and sales during the Halloween season, but with some tweaking I have upped my views... I think!

Re: Questions and Advice

Take some time and look at your tags, title and first few lines of descriptions. It will pay off in the long run.... well that's what I keep telling myself.....
