Be very careful of patent infringement if you make toys with ribbon tags.

Just a heads up, a lot of us who have baby stores make toys or blankets, lovies, etc and use ribbons on the edges. We call them loops, taggys, taggies, and tags. I am guilty of the same choice of words. I have received two letters from the company KidsII who hold the patent on the use of making a "blanket" and "toys" and using any of their patent terms, descriptions or wording. For more information on their patient just google it. Patent RE38,782. It's easy reading but it is long. It's highly valuable to understand what we can and can not say to keep them off our backs.
They have threatened to close my shop and sue me. I didn't think I was doing anything wrong, and what I make isnt the same thing they make, but I was using their terms with out knowing it. so just wanted to give everyone a heads up to be safe with your descriptions. Kathy

Thank you for sharing! I have made taggie blankees for gifts, but have never sold mine on Etsy. Surely though, if I had listed them, I'd have used those terms to describe them.

thanks for letting us know. This is ridiculous to allow them to patent this… I had to revise one of my listings. I think I would need to stop doing this all together…. Or come up with something else
