Re: Trying To Build My New Shop

OMG, I love your products! Oh my! In a couple of months when I get out of debt, i'll be shopping at your place. My home interior is vintage, and early American.
Why did you name your shop muchkinbaby ?

Re: Trying To Build My New Shop

Ok lets see :)

I love the items you sell, all are very beautiful and a lot are designs and items I have never seen before, so that's always good!

Photographing them on a paler background may be good, to make them stand out more. Sometimes if you have a delicate, detailed or unusual item it can be better shown through a quiet, calm, light background!

Check out your tagging, the Lazy Susan listing for example, a lot of the tags have 'lazy Susan' in them. It may help you show up in more searches if you had a wider range of tags so that way you are included in lots of different searches!

Hope some of this helps X

Re: Trying To Build My New Shop

Hi mybiblecompanion.

Thank you so much for your comments, I LOVE vintage and studied interior design in college (many years ago!), creating this store seemed to come naturally. However, my business sense is sadly lacking, so I am looking for all the input I can find. Shop with me soon! I will be happy to extend a discount to a fellow Etsy seller. As for the name munchkinbaby I joined Etsy several years ago as a buyer. When I opened my store, I mistakenly thought I had to use my user name as my store name. Duh! Now I realize I have the option to create a store name, however, since I have already been advertising a bit on facebook and including cards with the name munchkinbaby in all my shipments I have been afraid to change it. What do you think? Would the name change help, something that says vintage?
note: I call my grandkids munchkins, so munchkinbaby became my user name. Again, thanks for your assistance!

Re: Trying To Build My New Shop

Hi tealadydesigns,

THANK YOU for the feedback. I am taking a new look at my tagging and pictures. The pictures are tough for me. Since I studied art you would think photography would come naturally...not so, I really struggle with it. And tagging....I'm REALLY struggling with that. I seem to be over thinking that!
I Sincerely thank you for responding to my plea, I am going to do some photography tomorrow using you suggestions, and tonight I am changing many of my tags. Any more suggestions, please contact me.

Re: Trying To Build My New Shop

Jodi,

Here's an article that I wrote you might find helpful.

It covers how to structure your tags and titles
based on what your customers are looking for:

I hope that helps!

Re: Trying To Build My New Shop

Hi Mike,
I read your article, thanks, When I type in a specfic search on etsy such as ceramic bowl, my stuff is coming up. But when I look under handmade ceramics my stuff is lost. I looked at what other people have in their tags and do not get why my stuff is lost. If you any suggestions I would be ever so grateful. Thanks, Vickie

Re: Trying To Build My New Shop

Vickie,

You'll want to put Handmade into your titles.

Although tags are important titles are
even more so.

Does that help?
