Etsy is now requiring processing times on all listings. There's no way to accurately estimate processing times on custom orders that require input from the buyer. Some buyers take a long time to answer questions that I need answers to in order to even get to the stage of making the item. If I were to put 3 weeks on an item that can, and should, realistically ship out in 3 days, if the buyer answers all my questions in a timely manner, then those customers who know what they want and want it quickly will be turned off. This definitely hasn't been thought through for a website that purports to sell handmade, custom made items. We're not Amazon here but it's starting to feel like that's the direction this site is going in.
Any suggestions for those of you who do custom work?
