Hi I will add suggestions if you critique my shop because we are in the same boat! Being a photographer of sorts I would say that your products do not show well. You need more lighting and a good camera to capture the detail of your jewelry up close. Even have a friend hold a white poster board to reflect more light onto your work. What I have been doing is looking at the most successful shops and learning what they do!

I tried taking some of the pictures outside...the better camera will have to wait...I just don't have the funds...

I think your prints are great....I would offer a larger print than a 8x10....

Your stuff is great, you will sell! You have a popular item.
Keep your chin up- give it time.

Personally I will tell you this- you will get alot of advice from sellers who will
always critique your shop- very few will critique the site itself which I find a one sided story and as a newbie without sales that can be very frustrating.
There is a learning curve here, certainly pictures, tag, titles, are part of it but
doesnt tell the entire story.

Etsy is a beautiful site, a beautiful venue that offers very little support , seller tools, or Buyer growth for it's sellers. Etsy is a business in business to sell stores to us- most of the support you get will come from the Sellers themselves, there are many off-etsy blogs with great advice on how to sell & the reality of selling on Etsy. I would start there, reading off Etsy and apply what feels right to you, for your shop. Also remember Etsy is only one site-
the more streams of income you have ( spread out your eggs ) the better you will be.

Dont just paint yourself into Etsy's corner. There's nothing wrong with watching out for your own best interest & happiness.

I believe that any discussion that does not also involve
Critique regarding expectations or ideas for the betterment of the
Venue you are selling is not a complete discussion.

All eyes on Etsy are always pointed at the Sellers but
I find that it is lacking in the other direction,
keep it positive,
keep it upbeat,
but Critique of Etsy is just as valuable as Critique of our own
shops, and in alot of respects alot more powerful for the health & success
of the community here.

Hi Bertha,

I agree with papercheries, Etsy is just a platform for your shop, it does not actually bring customers into your shop. Few questions to ask yourself: what other activities are you doing to drive potential clients into your shop? At home parties? Trunk shows? attending events...etc? Think of etsy as a HUGE mall, how can you get customers to find your shop?

wow, i read this seeing if i could help and ended up with some great advice i can use! But i totally agree with you guys, Etsy does nothing to sell or promote to potential buyers, you have to do it. I have done a few off-etsy things to help generate traffic and i havent noticed it working just yet, but ive got time and patience!

I have done a couple of craft shows and post alot on face book...have sold several things local...Have had a problem with my computer ..laptop scrren broke...just bought new computer today and have posted several new items today...

hi, I have the same problem. Sold some stuff when I first opened up but there has been nothing for ages, despite some items being favourited loads and been put on treasury lists. Can anyone advice?

Hi daphne, its a slow old time here on etsy atm i guess. A lot of people have commented on a drop on sales recently. I have two shops and this one hasnt had a sale in over a month. Im working on new christmas listings and i check whats trending and keep an eye on the front page to help me decide what to work pn, what to list. Just so that they have more chance on being noticed if their new, and what ppl are looking for. But keep your chin up, the christmas rush is about to start and we will all forget why we were ever compaining about not having sales ;-)

Oh, bertha, feathers are HUGE right now, so keep checking your tags and titles are really catchy, improve your photos. Try white backgrounds. A few yards of white poplin fabric is less than ten bucks, reflects light and isnt so see thru! Be creative but minimise busy backgrounds for your gprgeous earrings so they stand out. Lay them on a page of a vintage book, hang them from a wine glass or spray paint a twiggy branch gold or silver and hang them from that. Keep trying new ideas.
