What do I need to focus on most on the run up to Christmas?

Hello All,
I have been on Etsy for about 2 years now but never really gave it the attention I think it deserves :)
I've been working hard recently listing new products and taking a few new pictures, but I sometimes feel there is so much I need to improve I almost don't know where to start!

-I'm a bit lost with my about section, and my policies I think
-Not sure how my pricing seems to others?
-photography probably all over the place so could do with pointers on which photos are best and which to ditch :)

To be honest I will value any constructive criticism you guys can give- the more the better!
Thanks for all your help!

The best photos are the ones like these with the white background and a hand for perspective: https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/208689486/hand-stitched-sky-blue-snail-felt-badge?ref=related-3 The hair grip ones seem a bit dark.

I'd recommend capitalising all titles, including shop sections, because it's professional, getting someone to model the hair grips, adding detail to your policies (there are good Etsy articles on this in their Guidebook or blogs I think) and adding more to your About page.

The products seem really good quality and the reviews are good so if you tweak a few things to make them more desirable you should get a lot more business. :)

Good luck!

Awesome job on good title SEO! However, your tags need the same treatment. I cannot see the tags but do you treat them the same way? Can you give me an example of your tags in use? And last, are you using twitter or FB or pinterest to bring in traffic? Since you seem to be understanding SEO based on your title (remember the first full sentence of the description should also follow this pattern), it's important to do the same with social media. :)

Tags: One word tags are not favored in search. Two and three word phrases work better, make sure that you do not repeat individual words more than twice. Titles and tags should echo eachother.

Pictures: Some of your pics are too dark (I think someone else mentioned this), white backgrounds are much more likely to pop. I'd recommend buying or building a light box. I made a large one and have bought a smaller one. Just make sure to get bulbs with natural light for taking pics (I use ott light bulbs). Photo editing software also helps lighten and brighten pics.

Featured Items: Either use all the featured items, or none of them. You have three :) This happens to me too, when I sell something and don't go to shop view quickly enough afterwards.

Copyright: I don't know for sure, but my guess is that pac-man is a copyrighted item. You have to do what feels comfortable in your shop, but you should be aware that if a complaint is filed E will remove those items from your shop.

Number of Tags: I am guilty of this too. Some of your listings don't use all the tags they could. Sometimes it's just so hard to come up with the last couple of tags. Kawaii is popular, but there are lots of people who search by it. You use it in your shop description but I didn't see it in the listings I looked at (to be clear though I looked at four or five listings not all of them, so maybe I just missed it.)

About page: I love your craft show pics, but I also love seeing pics of people making their product. I think it helps connect people with the artisan.

You have some really cute items, hope this helps.

Re: What do I need to focus on most on the run up to Christmas?

Wow guys,
This is so helpful! I will definitely
-redo my hairgrip pics
-alter fist sentence in listings to increase SEO
-beef up my about/policies
-sort out my capitalisation :)
-actually use FB/Pinterest in a constructive way

I use Instagram a lot and tend to see some views from it, but I don't really use Pinterest or Facebook properly, so I will start this weekend (I've been putting it off somewhat). Anyone got any tips for using Pinterest in a useful way?

The tags for my small grey robot are the following-
geek
crochet
handmade
amigurumi
Daisybell
kawaii creature
tiny creature
geek toy figure
bashful robot plush
nerd toy
grey crochet toy
cute robot boy
toy robot

I know that you shouldnt have any single word tags, so just writing this has made me realise I need to alter the tags slightly.

Again- thanks so much guys this is so helpful :)

Oh also TwistedWristers- I found a tutorial and I am going to make a light box to sort my pics out, and use all my tags :)

Hi,

I think your best photo's are the one's in your hand and with the white background.

The other thing I noticed was your shop section, you have 3 section names with a capital letter and then the other 2 are in lower case. I think they all need to be the same.

I don't know anything about SEO, so I can't help their. I think overall you have a nice shop. Hope you get lots of sales.

Hi Sharyn,
That's great, thanks for your help!
I'm busy trying to change the capitalization, descriptions and tags today, and the photos should get a revamp at the weekend when I'm off work. All these comments have been super helpful thank you all!
