Please help!

Hi everyone,
I need help with my shop. After moving across countries and setting my shop in vacation mode quite a few times, I can't seem to get my views back on track again (or maybe the times not spend on my shop has nothing to do with this.. I don't know)
Views and with that: sales, are very low and whatever I try, I can't get them back up again. I've tried adjusting my tags and titles and Social Media presence (Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest).
What should I do? What can I make better?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks so much!

Marthe

Re: Please help!

I think your items are amazing!
I think your titles seem good as are your policies.

Your descriptions are almost too much.
Most people only read so much.
Tell me in the description why I need this, what makes it special and less about how its made, etc.

Your tags could be what is hurting you. Use phrases mostly. Think about what someone would put into search to find you.
Example: paper cutting,bird paper cutting,etc.

Hope this helps and keep on using social media!

Re: Please help!

Wow, your shop is beautiful!
I absolutely love your product, the paper designs are just stunning.
Titles are descriptive and accurate
The prices are a bit steep for me, but I'm not in the hand cut paper art market myself so I'm not 100% sure what the average price is. They might be fine.
It seems like you get a lot of favorites and traffic! That's awesome :)
Your description is really long, but I like how you include links and shipping policies.
I like the variation in items: silk screen, cut paper art, gift tags. It gives your shop variety while sticking to a theme.
All in all, I think your shop is elegant, beautiful, but expensive (to me).
I would keep trying on your tags and your social media! You've got a beautiful product, there will be buyers if people see your item :)
Would you be willing to critique my shop? My thread is here https://www.etsy.com/shop/WhisperingPaper?ref=teams_post

Re: Please help!

I love your shop and your beautiful paper art!
I would suggest editing your descriptions and making then bit shorter.
Also your sales might be slower because of the beginning of the year.
Good luck!

Re: Please help!

What incredible work! I think I'd echo what the others have said, and suggest shorter descriptions with each item.

Also, I wonder if having been on vacation / moving has affected your sales. Do you have an online presence devoted to your business, as opposed to a personal one? Maybe through your social media outlets you could take a month to focus on promotion. You could do a thirty day series of photos highlighting different aspects of your work, like close-ups of sketches, the cutting process, of your studio space, of your knife, tools, your paper scraps, photos of your work in different lighting. Then tag them with catchy phrases and cross-promote that same thirty day series on instagram, facebook, pinterest, twitter, etc, with a link back to your shop.
Good luck with your beautiful work!

Re: Please help!

What a great shop and so many people who love your product.
My first impression of the homepage is a bit of a chaos with photography. Your product is already much to look at. If I see a full page of products I don't know were to look at. Some paper cuts are shot in different angles, or coloured backgrounds. Maybe add some more consistancy. I prefer the silk screen print pictures. Those are beautifull serene pictures.

I like the discription of your workspocess. But as mentioned before a bit too much to read. Maybe a short movie?

Good luck with your shop!!

Re: Please help!

Hi all,

Thank you so much for all the constructive criticism and all of your compliments!!
I will take a look at my descriptions, good point; they almost grew into a novel. ;)
I'll also get a second look at my tags and see if I can make them less 'one-word-tags'.
The thirty day photo series is also a great idea! I'll see what I can make up for that...

I agree with the chaotic overall look, but I'm not so sure how to change this... I can't photograph my white paper cuts on white (as with the screen prints) as you wouldn't see them anymore. Besides, I like the rustic feel that the wood gives. But how to make it a more 'quiet' look..?
The movie instead of the long description stories is something I'll definitely will make.

Thank you so much again, for taking time to take a look at my shop and write your great critiques! Good luck to you all!

Re: Please help!

Your work and photos are beautifully presented! Great job with the photography, I know it can be hard to photograph all those beautiful intricate details, and I think you do a good job!
I think that as far as sales; it is a slow time, and items that did sell seemed to be more holiday oriented I think maybe concentrating on seasonal art/prints would help with sales (i.e. bridal, bridal showers, baby showers, Easter, summer, picnics...). Other than that keep up the beautiful work.
Best of luck!!

Hi Sivan Eshel,
Thanks so much! I was also thinking about concentrating more on things like weddings and new babies...
Thank you so much again!
