New and needing help

Hi guys!

I've really just been getting my etsy up and running these past few days so any advice you can give me would be great. This is becoming part of my college fund because working just isn't enough to afford it so the more sales I can get the better!

You can be as brutal as you'd like. I'd actually prefer it, I know my pictures aren't great we just haven't had the sunlight to get many decent pictures lately. Any other angles, backgrounds, lighting techniques, etc. Would be fantastic. Also, how's my pricing?

Thanks so much (:

Hi Brianna
Your shop is very nice, I think more listings would help. The fact that part of the proceeds go for charity is great, maybe specify what charity specifically and the percentage that goes to it would add to the buyer's experience. Give them a story along with their purchase.
Good Luck

Re: New and needing help

Hello! Your products are very nice and your prices are really good!

As for your photos, I would suggest trying to take them all outdoors or near a window with no artificial lighting on. It yellows and doesn't always show the true product. Even if the weather isn't great, natural light is the way to go! If they seem a little to dark you can always brighten them up through editing.

You also want to use all of the allowed space in your titles. You want to put in phrases that people might use to find the item in search, separated by commas. Then you want to repeat the same phrases in your tags. For instance in your listing "peacock feather earrings" you might do peacock feather earrings, dangle earrings, handmade jewelry, women's fashion jewelry, gifts for her, animal inspired .. Things like that. You also don't want the charity in your titles. That should definitely be in your description though!

You have a great start just need to do some refining! Good luck and I hope this helped!

Re: New and needing help

Hi Brianna!
First, I want to thank you for your suggestions on my own shop. I appreciate that. :)
I think your products are really pretty. I think just changing the background that you display your products on would help immensely. I'm in the process of trying to do the same thing. Mine is too dark.
Your background may be obscuring your lovely products. A simple, solid white or other light colored background may make a world of difference.
I've also noticed with my shop that more products and lots of good tags (also in the headline for each product!) made an immediate difference. I still don't have the views I need but it's steadily growing and I believe yours will, too, with just a little tweaking. :)

Re: New and needing help

PHOTOS: Your photos are from great angles and locations, with wonderful props! They really catch your eye and make you want to click on them. The lightings ok, but most of the pictures have a yellowish tint to them. You should try to take them where there's more outside light, like by a window or, ideally, outside. If you have a deck, I would highly reccomend using that for taking pictures. If you don't, or if it's bad weather outside, you could get studio lights and experiment with those. Or, just adjust the white balance and brightness when you're editing them. We use Picasa to edit them, and remember, they always seem to show up darker when they're the smaller thumbnail. Here's a good article to read: https://www.etsy.com/seller-handbook/article/how-to-take-great-product-photos/22935488162

TITLES: The titles you have consist of very helpful words that will get you more views, but you can put a lot more on. You have a certain amount of characters that you can put in a title, and I would reccomend using them all! If it helps, you can seperate each phrase by commas, which has seemed to get us more views. For example, insetead of 'peacock feather earrings to help the world wildlife foundation' Use 'Peacock feather earrings, peacock jewelry, feather decoration, peacock accesories, earrings' Also, you don't have to have the 'to help the world wildlife foundation' in the title. People will read it in the description, and the title helps with SEO and you need more characters to use for other words. People aren't going to search for 'Earring that helps wildlife foundation'. They're going to search for 'Beautiful ocean themed earrings'

TAGS: Great tags, but again, use all 13 tags that is possible. Remember, the more tags you have the higher you are in SEO. Depending, of course, on if you have good tags. I would add tags like 'ocean themed' 'sea themed', stuff like that. Also, you should put the color in as well, because a lot of people will search for things like 'blue charm bracelet' and 'stunning white earrings'
Also add things like the texture and feel. Here's a good article to really help you with your tags Here's a good article to help you: https://www.etsy.com/seller-handbook/article/brainstorming-keywords-for-tags-and/22794885498

DESCRIPTION: Great decsdription, but I would also add in some of 'why you should buy this item'. Describe why a buyer should buy it, what makes it worth that price, etc. Here's some articles to read: https://www.etsy.com/seller-handbook/article/5-tips-for-writing-item-descriptions/26330089019
https://www.etsy.com/seller-handbook/article/20-questions-your-buyers-are-asking-and/22795143310

ABOUT PAGE: You should really think about adding an about page! People want to know about who they're buying from, where the products are found and made, and what goes in to the process of making them. Tell your story! Why did you start your shop? What inspired you? Who encouraged and suported you? Why did you choose to sell the products you're selling? What makes your shop special? Good luck!! :D

Re: New and needing help

your pieces are so cute! I love them. I would just work on listing more (this is something I need to work on myself) and trying to photograph your photos on a white background with nothing else .... maybe a prop but an all white background for sure. Using natural day light is the best option too, unless you have a light box or photo studio. Good luck!

Re: New and needing help

Cute pieces! Love the ideas for your photos. I would definitely make them brighter. Natural day light is best. Also someone wearing the piece might help as well.

I would suggest more of a bio to help people understand your shop. List the exact charity and percentage. You have a good bio in the About but on the first page under your Shop name would be nice to have more text.

You can use up to 13 tags so use ALL of them. It help you get noticed more.

Hope that helps!
