Need Help, Please Review

Good Afternoon All!!

I have recently revamped my shop and I ran a promotion at the end of December which got me a lot of traffic and sales. This has motivated me to make a lot of changes but now things have slowed down greatly and I'm not prepared to do another promotion. I'd love some advice about pictures, I wish i knew how to get them really really bright. Also, I've played around with my descriptions but jewelry descriptions are hard. I never know when it's enough or oversharing. Ever piece has a story but do i really need to publish a novel with every listing? My shop has been open for 3 years and i'm finding little things that are outdated. I think I've got them all but if you see anything like that please let me know. Thank you for all your help!!

I think you have a lovely shop!
Personally I like your descriptions- I love up cycled things and having that in your descriptions really sells me on it!!

I have zero advice for pictures!!! My photography skills are not there at all! Hopefully someone can help on that one!

Good luck!

The only thing I could suggest is using https://burner.bonanza.com/ to remove your background on your pictures and make them bright white. I just pulled 2 of your pictures from your store and ran the burner and believe me they look 150% better Bright White. I use this for my backgrounds. I wish I could upload the pictures before and after and you would be amazed. Give it a try and good luck.

Hello! I like your descriptions, I personally think it's good to give lots of info. I always like seeing the most important details first and then the story after.

I would recommend photographing your pieces on a model or a form, to give an idea of size. Even if you note dimensions, it's good to get a visual!

Great store, congrats on your success and best of luck.

Hi! I love the variety of your jewelry! I am new to etsy and just wanted to share my little experience with photos. I love bright pictures too and especially natural light. I take pictures with my phone and edit using a VSCO app. You might also want to add just a little bit decoration as a background to highlight your jewelry. For example, add a few sea shells with the pearl bracelet. I also like the promotion you have for January sales. I am sure it will bring some good sales to your shop! Keep it up!

Re: Need Help, Please Review

Hi Jessica,

Re photos I will say that I am not a photography expert, however I've noticed a couple of things you might find useful.

Firstly, it looks like you use a lot of fabric background for your pictures. The problem with most fabric is that it absorbs light and makes things look dull. If you want to continue using fabric as a background you'll probably need to brighten the pictures.

There's a good photography program you should try - it's called Fotor and as far as I'm aware it's free. I used it to change two of your pictures (annoyingly etsy won't let me drop them in here so I will try and convo you).

Secondly, your items don't fit in a number of thumbnails which means potential customers can't see the whole item. Sometimes this isn't a problem but I would recommend either trying to fit the whole thing in the picture or focusing on just one element of an item.

Hope this helps, happy sales

Re: Need Help, Please Review

Ok, I have redone a lot of my pictures and descriptions. I also am running an Etsy promo so i can see how many "impressions" I get and where my stuff is popping up. From what I see in the last 3 days almost 2000 people have seen my listings but only about 100 of them have clicked. Any advise would help a lot!!

I love your jewelry! the pieces photographed off the manequin you can try making a simple light box to brighten them up http://www.flaxandtwine.com/2013/02/diy-photo-light-box-a-finish-fifty-project/?m this is a good tutorial and would help make things uniform. Also keep in mind Jan-Feb is slow for sales in general.

Ok thank you!! I think the variety is from filters I used. I'll try and play with the originals to try and make them all look the same. I like the light box tutorial, thank you!!

Re: Need Help, Please Review

It's had for me to give an opinion, because I'm new. My first impression of your shop was "How lovely" . You have some wonderful pieces. Very talented.

Re: Need Help, Please Review

First let me say your items are lovely but they would sparkle more on a brighter, cleaner background. White foam core board can work.
Also i would try to maintain consistency with placement of your display model. It is difficult, I have the same problem.
I would try to keep similar styles together, i.e. big pendants, then dangling earrings etc. for a cleaner look.
Hope this helps...elaine
