Help, Please!

I have been on Etsy for 2 years and have had 36 sales...about half of those have been to people I know. I am working on lightening my photos and fix them as I renew listings. Here's my main question...are my prices too high? I have reduced some with no results. And are my pendant necklaces just too weird? I love to make them and people who like them seem to LOVE them, but they are not for everyone, I think. Thanks for your imput!

Re: Help, Please!

I love your ceramics, it's not too weird! I think pricing is okay too. I know making ceramics can be a really long process and your items has artictic value. Maybe you can show them differently? Like showing models face and necklace, not only a part of neck. How about combining them with clothes or designs that can match them? They remind me of surrealistic paintings, so why not just make them "weirder" with some crazy patterns?

Re: Help, Please!

I think they're pretty too! Unusual- not weird which is a good thing! I'd say the photos (good job with getting them bright white & well lit) but maybe they have too much light/ or overcorrected?

can you use a tripod (or a box to rest the camera on) to stabilize it when you use take close-ups of the small objects? I think the tripod would really help the photos to be sharp/clear/in focus.

I like Marmalead.com for figuring out pricing relative to how other similar items are being priced. (I don't know if there is access to the pricing tool in their free area or not). Otherwise find 5+ similar items -marmalead suggests finding the median price & charging just a bit over that. (I'm sure there are plenty of other tools out there to help with that too).

I'm guessing that with your type of jewelry & other small items, getting those super clear beautiful shots will make all the difference.

Re: Help, Please!

Stephanie! Thanks for your input. I will check out Marmalead and I need to find an editing program that lets you lighten the exposure by gradations. I use Photoshop now and it just has jumps...you're right, sometimes the jumps are too bright. I appreciate your time.

Re: Help, Please!

Whats wrong with weird?
I find your work to be artisan and bold. I found your tags and description to be very good, but i did find in the description area tto drawn out every couple of sentences you spaced alot, maybe to describe the pieces keep it together and space for areas of gift etc etc. prices thats always a challenge but perhaps if you set discounts and sales it would drive more people to shop.Like who doesn't like a sale lol...ps. maybe you might wanna change up the necklace part with different materials, different colors..
best of luck

Sue

Re: Help, Please!

Susie, Thank you, thank you, great advice. I had been thinking about grouping the necklaces by color as there are so many to navigate. And thanks for the advice on the descriptions and also the compliment. I appreciate it!
