Decent Views, Low Sales

Hello, I have been selling on etsy for about a year. I've been working on my titles and tags and have increased my views from about 20/day to over 50/day (sometimes around 100). I think this is good for my products but I am getting low sales. Only 1 or 2 a month at the most. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Are my prices too high, too low, photo problems, titles, tags...any criticism will help? Thank you.

Re: Decent Views, Low Sales

Hi Suzi!

Your number of views vs. sales probably means that you have pretty good tags on your items if you're getting found a lot through search! Either that or if you're on social media or advertising other ways, it's working well. I'd look into your stats and see where most of your views are coming from.

As far as why you might not be getting so many sales, I have a few possible ideas. I'm not completely in love with your photography. While it certainly shows the detail in your work, I'd prefer a simpler background, probably light/white or all consistently grey. I especially don't like the ones that appear to be on some sort of dark stone or something because of the the little rounded shapes it creates in the corners of all those photos. Another thought I had was that perhaps your tags are not 100% descriptive of your jewelry so people are finding your work and then realizing it's not what they were really looking for when they searched. I'm not at all versed in pricing of jewelry so I'm not sure on that front. Thought it does seem like you have a pretty good number of admirers versus your sales so that's a good sign!

I think really my biggest suggestion would be photos. Also take a look at your tags and make sure they are things people would actually search to find your work. Look at your most successful ones and see if you can build off of those to replace some of your tags that never get searched at all.

Rebecca, Thank you for your advice. Photography is the thing I struggle with. Trying to figure out how to use all 5 photos. I will work on it one piece at a time and see.

Re: Decent Views, Low Sales

Hi Suzi, I have a conversion ratio of 1 sale on 1000 views!
Maybe that's normal when one sells item quite pricy, people appreciate them but before purchasing think about it a little bit.
I'm not sure it's a question of pictures, otherwise you wouldn't get many views either...

Hi Suzi- Your jewelry is beautiful. Have you thought about taking some photos of the jewelry being modeled/worn?

Re: Decent Views, Low Sales

Hi Suzi,

I'm very new to this and struggle with my own photography so I do not have much sound advice to give. However, I just wanted to let you know your jewelry is gorgeous and you have incredible talent. Please don't give up on this Etsy thing! You're doing a great job!

Perhaps work with another shop you're close with to have giveaways and promotions together. This could increase sales for both of you! Just an idea. Good luck & god bless you, sweetie.

Re: Decent Views, Low Sales

Your work is great! I would say give the buyer more ideas about who they can buy it for, what occasions it can be used for? Like casual days out, party nights out. And I think try to photograph your products on a lighter background? That may make them pop more. Happy Sales!

Hello,
Your jewelry is beautiful. I like your about page.
I think that you need to work on photos.
I don't like real leaf as background.
Your photos don't have some style.

Happy Sales!!!

Re: Decent Views, Low Sales

Hi Suzi,
I agree with most peoples' ideas in here. Personally, I think your store looks awesome! Your banner pops and looks pro! Your photos are really good but not great. Photography is hard. I struggle a lot with it myself. Honestly, I don't see any reason why yours sales are lacking other than it's a huge marketplace with tons of competition. Maybe more social networking, advertising campaign, or lots more items in your shop?

Thanks everyone for your help. My photography does need work. Wish I had money for a photography or a daughter (not a son) who I could bribe to help.

Re: Decent Views, Low Sales

No problem Suzi. By the way, I really like your logo. It's really great and looks very professional. Regarding your photography, in my opinion, it doesn't much work. Just a tiny bit. Your lighting looks diffuse with not many harsh shadows etc, so I think you're super close to awesome with that : ) I saw in an informative video that backgrounds and props should be totally uniform. I like your outdoor photo with the dragonfly a lot and your use of the smooth dark river rock. Very organic! With that said, you may want to stick to one prop and background on all of your pieces -- although I know it is tempting to deviate with neat different things. Finally, although your "Shop Announcement" is really good, you may want to tweak it a little using more keywords for SEO if you can without compromising your solid message. Well, just me views on your fabulous shop. I'm obviously no expert though.
Have a great day Suzi!

Re: Decent Views, Low Sales

Hi Suzi!

You certainly create beautiful pieces, and I am persoanlly in love with your ribbon wrap bracelets. :)

That being siad, it seems as if your pics are not bringing out the best in your pieces. Some with the dak backgrounds seem to really make the pieces pop, and show great detail, while others allow the background muddle the detail. I would focus on using a cohesive and darker background. The ribbon pics are very complimentary with your natural wood background. They give movement and flow. You could even try a live model for yours. If budgeting is an issue, maybe offer a free piece of jewelry in exchange for their modeling. nothing wrong with bartering for sure! Especially if your money is tight!
best of luck to you and keep up the great designs!

Re: Decent Views, Low Sales

Thank you for your advice. I agree the darker background works best. So hard when they tell you to use all 5 photos but I'm stuck on what to do for all 5. Bartering is a great idea. Might do that. Thanks!

Re: Decent Views, Low Sales

Your jewelry is beautiful! I agree with the other commenters that photography seems to be the main drawback here. I don't really have an issue with the QUALITY of the photography, I would just like to see more consistency. As in, have the same backdrop for the thumbnail of every listing. Hope this helps :)

Re: Decent Views, Low Sales

Love your jewelry! I've had the same problem, low sales - I think it's the time of the year, honestly. I'm trying 'test runs' of different products to see what sells and what comes up more frequently in search terms. You might use this time to test out some new things

Re: Decent Views, Low Sales

I noticed a few where the title and description did not match but otherwise I saw a very nice shop. Are you using social media? Building a following on Instagram, Facebook or Pinterest etc. can really give you a boost.
