Hey guys and gals!

I've noticed alot of new shops joining the team...this is awesome!
With that said, most of them have not yet had a sale.

Let's help everyone! The more shops that participate, the more helpful this thread will be.

Post one thing that has helped your shop's sales/views.

Thanks in advance!

This is my first team post and only been. All the advice in this discussion are great. Like most of you mentioned I found when I reshot my pictures, had better titles, favored other listings and put up more inventory I got more views and sales.

The discussion on how to reviews really will help me.

Also looking what other sellers are selling and what markets are in need of items is getting me more views. Also look at the items you have sold, for trends.

Thank you for your help.

Make sure your pictures are clear and colorful. Use all 5 pictures in your listing.

Hello,

I am new to this group and find it a great idea!

For getting more sales, I think it is a combination of really nice pictures a good description of the item and lots of thinking about search words to be found....

If you are more active and look and favourite other shops you will be found a bit easier.
Although with my unique products it is usually the feel of it when a customer picks up one of my necklaces or bracelets it is the "wow" factor of having something so soft and light weight in hand....
and to bring that over with pictures is rather impossible, so there is my little problem, any advice for that????

Hi Suzanne!

beautiful items! I love your pictures. But that does sound like a difficult thing to capture. I think the pictures that include necklaces in a bent position show the flexibility of the soft materials used. If I think of anything I'll let you know! I always thought soft materials and scents would be hard to capture in a photo.

Good luck, Jess

Hi there. Does anyone have an idea on how my shop would show up on google search? I have ads but when I put in a search for "seashell bouquets" without putting my company name, other competitor store names come up. How do I get mine to show? Any help appreciated, thanks.

Well I open my shop a bit more than 1 year ago, and I didnt have any sales. But then I promote my shop and I pay 4! dlls every week plus the treasury are very important too I guess. But I really think is a matter of having good designs plus good prices! and then promote on facebook, etc... and of course we have to have more than 50 pieces on inventory...

AnnMarie...

I'm not positive if it's correlated, but I had the same question about a year ago. I noticed once I started posting my items on Pinterest....then my shop started showing up on google searches. The more people re-pin....the more exposure. So now many posts have a direct link to my listings/shop....which I think helps with search engines.

Good luck! You have beautiful listings :)

I started getting more views when I made treasuries and viewed and favorited many other listings.
It is important to be more socially active!

A revamp of pictures, tags, and your products help, afterwards renew your posts. Continue to add new items weekly.

First of all . .hello and thank you for the invite! :)

One thing that works for me is posting something every day . .whether it be a new items or a renewal. I also try and promote a lot . .whether it be around in Etsy, pinterest or facebook. I also do a lot of treasuries. I have found that when you promote items from other shops it often brings in traffic to yours:) tags . . I try and use ALL of them!

I agree with Cindy and Jess, having more items available gives the shops variety and promotes multiple sales at one time. Also being active and seeing other shops and liking their items invites that person into your shop and you might find something neat for yourself^_^

It definitely helps to have more than 100 items listed in your shop. The more items you have, the more people will notice your shop items. Even browse through your shop. I think good quality photos also help. Many photographers are willing to even trade photos for props. So definitely go look some professional photographers up and get that amazing image to that will draw the customers in. :) If you have a great camera, by all means use that!

Just opened my shop a week ago! So excited to be here. Love all these suggestions. I read a lot of advice about being active on etsy. What is the best way to do that? What is a good first step to help me dive in? It feels like a big, unknown etsy world, how do I find a niche....for example, how would I find or choose a forum?

Becky,

Looks like your shop is off to a great start! Very nice photo's, descriptions, tags, and titles! Most new shop owners take a few weeks-months to get where you are.
Staying active within the Etsy Teams is a great way to promote. Many discussion threads are set-up to promote your own items, or games. The more threads you comment, and participate on...the more your name will be noticed. Many teams (like this one) also encourage you to create new threads if you have an idea for a new topic. (If you start a new thread, your shop will always appear first and on the side of the thread....just try not to duplicate threads within the same team. We only need one "new listings" thread, etc. ;) Depending on how much extra time you have...some shops post in the team threads once a month, while others post daily. I tend to notice the most sales after I've posted in multiple threads for a few days in a row.

If you have any other questions...always ask :)

I am doing paid advertising on Etsy and that is generating traffic for me but thus far there is still no sales conversion. I think this is most likely a case of zero feedback as a new seller that is keeping potential buyer away. It will be good if we can have this team do a purchase of each others product. This will help us kick start with a first review which is essential to bring in the first sales. What do you all think about this?

Always keep your shop filled. The more you work on your inventory, the more your shop will be seen and you also give your customers more choices so they don't have to go anywhere else.

Be sure your pictures are clear and bright and be very thorough with your description of your item.

Trang:

That is a good idea to help out fellow teammates when possible! Make sure you stay active in the discussion boards to advertise ;)

Also, your item is beautiful...however, it is hard for potential buyers to find a shop when they only have 1 item. Setting up a new shop is time consuming, but when you get a chance add as many items as possible. Try adding a a brand logo as well. You might also try getting involved with trade teams. You can trade items with fellow shops, which usually give feedback....this helps in the beginning when it's hard to establish feedback.
I started with just 5 items....and I didn't have my first sale until my shop had 15+ items.

Hi There! I find views are critical. Keep adding new items to your shop and pay close attention to the items that get the most views. These are the items you will want to promote as they are found to be the most interesting to the customers.

I've seen and been asked how to post listings in the discussion boards....so I figured I'd share with all.
***If you know how to do this already and would like to add, please feel free to :)

(This is the way I do it, everyone does it their own way though)

1) right click the listing you'd like to add. A drop down scroll box should appear.
2) select "copy shortcut" (this phrase might vary when using different internet browsers. copy shortcut is when I use internet explorer)
3) When you've selected the discussion board you'd like to add to; at the bottom of the page you'll see the area for you to add your post ("post a reply"). Right click in that box and "paste"

**Make sure if you add words, other than the listing...that you leave a space between the url and the words. If you post multiple listings...leave a space between each one

**Keep in mind, if you don't like your post...you can click "edit" to make adjustments.

If you have questions...always ask :)

I encourage new shop owners to have patience, it takes awhile before people find your products. Took me six months before I made a sale.
I also encourage you to fill your shop as much as possible and to use the promote your items and shop option on Etsy, if you can afford to. This really puts your items in the shoppers view.
You can even encourage a friend or two to buy your items and give positive feed back to get the ball rolling for your shop.
