Selling different quality fabrics...

Hey guys! I need some help... I want to offer lots of different brands of fabrics. How do I explain that the cheeper brands of fabric will cost cheeper than the high end brands of fabrics? I don't want to discredit the cheeper fabrics as they are still decent/good quality and NOT walmart, Joann's, etc quality but they are not the GREAT quality like the more expensive brands of fabric? I don't want someone thinking they are getting a deal on high end fabric and have the lower quality fabric shipped to them and then them being mad.
Example-A.E. Nathan has good fabric if you buy it right from them and not the "cheeper version" walmart sells. BUT it's not as great quality as say Art Gallery fabric which costs ALOT more even wholesale price.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Ashley

Re: Selling different quality fabrics...

I always look for the fabric weight, so I would include that. Smart buyer will know that a heavier weight can be an indicator of quality, even for fabric like quilting cotton, and especially for fabric like velvet. I would also advise about sizing. Some less expensive fabrics are loaded with sizing, and after washing don't appear as nice.
You could say:
Quilting cotton by X MANUFACTURER weighs X OUNCES per yard and is sized/not sized. CARE INSTRUCTIONS etc...

This is also helpful for people who don't know what to look for when buying fabric online. I'll be moving to a much more secluded area and won't have easy access to a fabric store. I usually go by what the fabric feels like rather than knowing the specs of the fabric, but buying online eliminates that. So thank you for mentioning what the buyer should be looking for!

Re: Selling different quality fabrics...

Fabric content % helps like 100% cotton or 80% cotton and 20% polyester

Re: Selling different quality fabrics...

I personally really like 100% cotton fabrics. Thick like quilting cotton.

Re: Selling different quality fabrics...

Offer samples, and I would describe a high quality fabric as just that - "high quality "cotton" in the description. That would indicate to me that it is a better fabric than one where you don't mention that. I love that you are going to sell varying lengths of fabric. Most stores only do half and full yards.

I only use quilt cotton, and I describe it as "premium quality quilt cotton". Fibre content would be important - I would want to know if there was any polyester in it, as I ONLY use 100% cotton. The width of the fabric is also important to mention, for determining how much is required for a particular project. All the best of luck!
