Does anybody have experience with the additional language enrollment?

Has anyone used the additional language enrollment to translate your shop to another language?

If you have, I would like to hear your experience regarding the traffic that this option brings to your shop.

Yesterday I started to translate my English default shop into Spanish. I have translated some of my items, but I am not near half way done. I have not seen any traffic in Spanish so far, but I am hoping that this will change in a couple of weeks or months...

Well, I look forward to hear your experiences regarding this issue :)

I have never even heard of the language enrollment thing. What is it and how does it work? Where did you find out about it? Do you have a link you can share?

It you click the link "info and appearance" in your shop you will see a tab that says "languages". Etsy provides the option to translate your shop into Dutch, French, German, Italian, and they recently included Spanish to the list of languages.

I just got started translating my shop into Spanish 2 days ago (it seems to take forever). You get to translate everything, from your shop info to each one of your listings.

I found out about it through emails that I get from etsy for sellers.

For example, users whose default setting is in Spanish are going to be able to see my shop and listings in Spanish.

Better read Etsy's policies before translating...
Copied from the languages page...

By enrolling in an additional language, you affirm that you are able to conduct business in that language (for example, accurately represent an item, complete a transaction and provide customer service to the buyer in that language).

I read that and got scared and didn't do it. I suppose you could just use Google Translate to translate your convos though...

I'm interested to know if you get many sales from your "Spanish shop". My experience is that English is pretty universal and most people can use it.

Are you trying to focus your business to Spanish speaking countries?

Re: Does anybody have experience with the additional language enrollment?

My shop default language is English, since I live in the USA and since I do think that English is pretty universal too. I just translated it into Spanish so Spanish speaking customers can find my items too.

Etsy users whose default language is set to English will see my descriptions in English and etsy users whose default language is set to Spanish will see my descriptions in Spanish.

I am not trying to focus in spanish speaking customers, I just want to get more customers (many spanish speaking people don't speak english) and more sales. Etsy in Spanish didn't start long ago and I just finished doing my translations yesterday, so I still don't have any experience with Spanish speaking countries. I will start a new post later along the way if the experience becomes positive so I can share it with other sellers.
