I am in the UK and buy from suppliers on ebay i don't know if that's a help to you but i find it far far cheaper than high street shops.

I always wait till I get the 40% off coupons at Joann's and then get needles then... when I don't need the coupons for fabric or they are for notions only. But I bought at Walmart yesterday Singer brand (for my Singer) and they were 5 for $1.97...that is cheaper than a coupon at joann's! I tend to buy them when on sale and "stock up" while they are on sale.
