Re: Proof of Liability Insurance

Double check with them to see if you are required to have it.

The only time I have seen shows request proof of insurance was for food vendors.

Re: Proof of Liability Insurance

If you end up getting it, would you share how much it costs? I've done a show that required insurance and (if I remember correctly) it was about $170ish. I quit doing that show because of that requirement. Good luck.

Re: Proof of Liability Insurance

I have liability insurance from RLI because I sell soap/beauty products, etc. I've never had to show proof for a craft show though. One I had to either pay for their insurance or just check a button to opt out.

Re: Proof of Liability Insurance

I checked into 3 different places and the cheapest was $255 for a year. I asked the farmers market if I needed the liability insurance since I am selling painted boxes and not food and they replied that they require all of their vendors to have the insurance. I worked the same farmers market last year but it was run by another company that did not require insurance.

Re: Proof of Liability Insurance

I think RLI was around $220/yr but it depends on your area I believe.

I guess it's more for in case someone trips over your table or whatever may happen.

Re: Proof of Liability Insurance

Hope you don't have to get it. Usually they will let you sign a release. Years past I had it but now it is too expensive. They call me a manufacturer because I make pottery. Want thousands from me for liability. Use to get it for a few hundred a year. Times have changed. Art guilds use to offer it but I don't know of any who do now.

Re: Proof of Liability Insurance

I have had to have liability insurance for every show I have done over the past year. It pays to ask around other stall holders for who they have their insurance with as I was originally quoted 245 GBP for my insurance but after speaking to a lovely lady at one fair I managed to get it for 39.50 GBP per year!

Part of the conditions of being accepted at one particular fair for later this year meant that I also had to complete a risk assessment about my stall and the stock I will be selling!

It's a pain, but is becoming increasingly common....

Re: Proof of Liability Insurance

Has anybody heard of this insurance company? Looks like it is geared towards crafters.
