I am having the hardest time deciding what exactly I want on a banner for a craft fair or farmers' market booth. I have my logo that I like but what else? I can't decide if I want to put my facebook link or my etsy link, or should I list the things I make? Like that I do custom work, etc.? I just have a design block. I can't commit. arrgh! I get to where I think I like a design and then I can't push the "buy" button.
I just finished my first banner. I ended up putting phone, Facebook, email and etsy address... There is still space around so it doesn't look too busy.
I ended up getting matching business cards to go with it for $10.
I'm not sure if the US and Canada website have the same promotion but Vista print has a 33% off everything here in Canada. My 6' banner was only about $30. At that price.. you can try a design or two :)
Just an FYI...some craft/art shows require that your sign say where you are from. I know it's just another thing to add, but I find that most people want to know
I think all pertinent information should go on your banner, plus your logo and colors you use a lot and represent you, or something specific to make you stand out. If you need any help with design, I am a designer and work for a banner and large format print shop.
I think just your name and logo, and BIG pretty blown up pictures of your work to draw people in. Info like email, etsy address etc. can go on your business card. Nobody is going to be copying it off of your banner anyway, at least I wouldn't think so. They would much rather have your card. The link below shows my booth, and you can see part of my banner- the part with my name is cut off, but you can see how the colors add visual interest to the booth, and draw the eye in.
I just recently made one too... I put just my logo/name and then my website. I had that put on a digital file of a background of my art. I too ordered on Vistaprint, their medium size for about $30. It's supposed to be here next week, I'm excited (and a bit nervous) to see the final product.
Just received my banner. I find that the jpg that I put in for my logo seems a bit more pixilated than I wanted. The preview doesn't really give you a good sense on how that will look in the 6' format (in my opinion). We were playing with the original logo so I'm not sure if it's because it may not have been saved as a hi-res. Lessons learned for next one.
I just got mine today too, and it wasn't pixilated, but it did seem darker (it was full color), not as bright/vibrant as I'd wanted or expected, but I guess it'll do for now.
I honestly feel the simpler the better with a banner sign. it should be something that identifies your business.
Think about it like a brick-and-mortar store sign.. usually just the name.
This gives you flexibility too. What if you decide to change your web address? Or, over time, you aren't keeping up with your Facebook page..
One suggestion is to make a small sign with your social media & Etsy info. This can just sit on your table, or hang from your tent. I made one of these and framed it & place a stack of business cards next to it. A sign like this is more cost effective & changable in the future.
