Does etsy really bring in the bacon?

Hello - I am the most impatient person I know but I have been on Etsy now for 2 months. I get views everyday but no sales other than from friends and family. Can someone please tell me what I have to do? Do I need to pay for the ads? Do I just need to wait a while, or maybe my shop is just not the sort of stuff people want?
I need some honest feedback about that.
Anyway - I just want to know that I am not wasting my time and money. I love making my cards but if I am the only one that loves them, I may as well give up now!! :-)

Any help would be useful. Thank you.

Re: Does etsy really bring in the bacon?

Do you want to do this as a hobby or as your main source of income? It took me several months before my first sale, but I was just using my shop as a place to offer my excess inventory from my passion of creating things. The listings are only twenty cents and they last for several months, so if you need to start renewing ALL your listings, I would seriously examine the problem. How many listings do you have? I noticed that as the choices went up, so did my views. Some people say they didn't really start selling until they had a hundred items. Join teams and stay active. Make treasuries. Promote other people without expectation of payback. But most of all relax, be patient, and be grateful that you can make something you love.

Many blessings to you, and happy sales!

I agree with Wendy, it takes work to really get the ball rolling...Teams really do help. Being active is a must. Some of my best customers are actually other etsy sellers so build a following on both ends..Follow Others and they will follow back.
