New to Etsy, any advise?

Hello, I am new to etsy and joined EtsyRain to try and get a sense of community out of what is an admittedly intimidating process. I'm hoping people can give me feedback or advice on how to proceed from here. I don't seem to get very many hits to my items and the ones I do get don't buy anything. Also I can't seem to get very good pictures of my items so I worry that I'm not sending out a very good representation of my work. Any advice would be much appreciated! I could use a few friends on here!

Hi Brittany! Welcome! The best advice I can give is..promote, promote, promote. Facebook and Twitter has helped a lot for me. And in terms of pictures, try using a macro setting so it can provide the most up close pictures and really show your craftmanship.

Yes, getting started up again is a strange process. I stumbled across the sassy critiques team here - they have a whole bunch of critiques up that have been useful to me.

Get a white background (I bought a little foam board that folds from a craft store, to photograph your pictures on....use either two or three lamps over item or take outside in the natural light. Put your camera on a setting for high quality, use a tripod if you have one, put it on macro (the little flower icon) and shoot away. Photoshop and crop no wider then 1000 megapixels.
business cards, bookmarks and pass out everywhere. twitter, blog, have house parties and sit back and pray....pray and hope as hard as you can!
