Etiquette for following up on Favorites

Hello, lovely EtsyRAIN people!

I have an etiquette question about interacting with Etsy users/buyers who favorite my shop or items.

I'd like to follow up with them directly and offer them a coupon code.

Does it seems kind of ... spammy ... to get in touch with Etsy users who have Favorited my items or shop? My gut feeling is that it is not spam, because they've initiated an interaction with me/my shop and because I'm communicating with them via Etsy conversations--not stealing their email and sending them billions of emails or something.

All this makes me wonder, is there etiquette other sellers follow in this realm? Is there some part of Etsy terms of service that I should know and am forgetting? Does anything prohibit me from going to these users Favoriting my things?

Also, good idea or bad idea? What do all y'all do after someone Favorites your item or shop?

Thanks so much for any and all feedback. I keep wondering if this is some untapped way to go to interested users directly or if I'm missing something completely.

Re: Etiquette for following up on Favorites

Hi Christine,

Interesting idea but here is a quote directly from the do's and don'ts section of the seller handbook:

"If someone adds your item or shop to a Favorite List, that is not an invitation to send a Conversation to that person."

Personally, I wouldn't like it if I received a message from a seller just because I favorited something. It would be a bit creepy.

Christine,

You're welcome! I hope my original reply didn't sound rude - I hadn't had any coffee yet! :)
