Etsy suggests product image size 'of at least 1000 pixels wide' suggesting landscape or square .... the optimum image size for posting on Facebook is 1200 x 630 pixels.(2:1 approx)
My images for Etsy, and my websites, are 575 x 450 px or about 1.3:1 - when I save to FB the images are cropped and really unsatisfactory.
I created an image to FB specifications and put it in a product page on Etsy - the thumbnail image needed cropping and it wasn't satisfactory - the image when viewed on in the shop was OK but looked overly landscaped, i.e. it didn't fill the frame.
So given that Etsy wants everyone to promote their products on FB, which in turn gives Etsy huge exposure, why isn't there some 'smart' image resizing program incorporated in Etsy that sends the image to FB in the most suitable size? It isn't complex, even OS web platforms have auto image resizing programs.
Even if it was that the image was set within a frame such that the image as uploaded to Etsy is condensed proportionately into a picture frame with a white background and no border it would appear as it should, i.e. uncropped.
So I do not expect a definitive answer to 'that' question however does anyone know of a size and ratio that does work?
