The Hashtag Game

Has anyone really gotten a handle on this whole hashtag game? Most of my views were generated using specific hastags, however its not enough. For one thing no one has placed and order. In additions I feel very lost when it comes to the promotion on platforms I barely use ( a.k.a Twitter). Any advice or similar experiences would be greatly appreciated :)
