You can't "make sure", you can do your best but even if you do everything the "right / best" way there is still no garantee you will land on page 1.
Esty doesn't publish exactly how page rank is determined but they give clues and through trial and error people have worked some of the rest out.
With "thousands" of products to compete against, your odds of success are not very high. Having said that, I know of shops who have succeeded despite this.
The best way to rank well is to sell a fair amount of product and do all the other stuff right, tags, photo's, etc. I put this in the right order btw.
