Good morning! I wanted to make you all aware of another great vending opportunity. Bedford, Va's annual Centerfest is going to be held on Sept 22nd from 10am-6pm. This is a huge street festival and last year there were estimated amounts of 16k + visitors! Contact information is bedfordmainstreet@gmail.com. AND one more important reminder!

If you are going to be an exhibitor at an event - list yourself on the Etsy Local page. It will show up on your Etsy shop and let people know where they can find you. Great, FREE, advertising. Check the Etsy Local page before you create the event - it might already be there. Also, the Etsy Local page will default to your shop location, so you will have to enter Floyd, Richmond, etc to see what is happening there.

I am so thankful for the list of events in Virginia. I wanted to let you know about the experience I had with the first one - Sweet Heart Shopping Bazaar. I signed up and when I arrived at the venue, no one was there. I went home and checked my email. I received an email the night before saying the event had been changed to an online Facebook event. The offer was made in the notification to refund the fee within 24 hours, but I have yet to receive it or communication from the organizers.

OK, it appears that a few people had the flu and they were afraid the weather might get bad. February and March are hard months to have events, mainly because of the weather. That could be the real reason, or it could mean they did not have enough vendors to fill the space and make the rental fee.

Good to know that you were refunded your money. The person organizing and promoting the event seems to have made an effort to make the FB event happen, but most of what I saw was travel agencies and reseller products (Tupperware, Lularoe, Park Lane, Linen World, etc). Keep this in mind if you decide to participate in any of their future events.

Just a quick fyi for everyone that the Maker's Market in the Center in the Square has, unfortunately, been discontinued. I participated in it last year, and, although it wasn't a huge event like some others, really enjoyed it. I do hope something similar will open in the future.

I spoke with the events coordinator for the Market Square Building and she said the main reason they held those pop-up art markets was to generate more sales for the permanent businesses in the building. Unfortunately, after a year of studying sales trends, they discovered that the opposite was happening - sales went down whenever a pop-up art market was held. So, they cancelled it. I told her that many of my team members really liked the venue and event, and that we hoped they would reconsider it in the future. It all comes down to $$.
