Hello there! Introduction time!

Thank you for joining the Redhill Etsy team - please introduce yourself to everyone (anyone??!) else.
I'm Clare & my shop is OrnatelyLanterns. I paint glass - lanterns & candleholders - & have been selling at craft fairs for about 15 years. I joined Etsy in 2015, hoping to get a chance to contact creative people who live in my area - & maybe sell a little too!
Looking forward to hearing from you.

Re: Hello there! Introduction time!

Hello all, and thank you Clare for creating this group :)

I have recently joined Etsy too and have been crafting for several years for friends and family as a way of giving them personalised and unique gifts. I love to knit clothes and blankets for babies and adults alike, and with the help of my mother in law, have helped to knit over 400 hats for Innocent Smoothie bottles.

I do have a 'day job' and work in the City as a Marketing and Events Manager so everything you see in my shop is created in my spare time.

Looking forward to meeting you all soon

Best wishes

Sam

Re: Hello there! Introduction time!

Hi I am also a new comer to Etsy. I have been crafting for many years and thought I would try the internet rather than relying on craft fairs. I do enjoy meeting people at the fairs but I feel the way forward is the internet. It would be great for the Redhill group to meet up sometime.

Re: Hello there! Introduction time!

Hi everyone, i too am in Redhill. I make Reiki attuned jewellery from often rare semi precious stones. Ive been on etsy a couple of years & opened my shop Empoweredcrystals  just over a year ago. I haven't really done fairs as I started on the internet with people asking me for custom orders as part of forum for specific problems they wanted to improve. I got so many requests i eventually created a website, then decided i wanted to do this full time & created my shop on etsy. I still have a full time job in London as a laboratory manager, but am hoping to give up my job in London next year if I build my business enough. :)

Re: Hello there! Introduction time!

Hello again

Nice to hear from you all.

Realised that I forgot to mention that Etsy & craft is only part time for me too. I'm self-employed & also work as an IT trainer, visiting clients at their homes & working with them on their own PCs, laptops, tablets, etc.

I also work occasionally for a friend who makes hats & does EXTREMELY well at craft fairs. I will be away for much of July & September selling for her at fairs (she does Hampton Court & Tatton Park Flower Shows in July, for example).

Will be selling hats for the next 2 weeks - but am looking to set a date in June when we could perhaps get together for a coffee or something like that

Re: Hello there! Introduction time!

Hello,
My name is Emma and I am from Redhill and yet again like all you guys I recently joined Etsy. I am very creative specially with drawing.
I design and create illustration as prints for children and adults if thay like it themselves. I have studied numerous Art and Design courses the latest one was HND Graphic design/illustration. I could go on...
At the moment I create illustrations while I am looking for work which is very hard specially looking for work with a creative field like merchandising, Graphic design, print designer etc anything to do with art. So to keep me going and being busy I draw.

Re: Hello there! Introduction time!

Hello!

I'm a lover of brown paper packages tied up with colorful string/twines. This shop is a collection of a few of my favorite things - items such as greeting cards where I pen down my animation of cartoons, words and I ship them out like sending a cute puppy gift wrapped with shiny glossy bags, colorful shipping tags, classic twines and ribbon.

I'm having the most fun time curating my writings on paper bags or cards for indispensable pals, family, friends, significant others or anyone else you just love the shit out of. Let them know life is too short to not tell people how important they are you.

A recent example of my work from my shop.. please have a look :)

Re: Hello there! Introduction time!

Hi everyone, I'm Ruth and I'm an etsy newbie too! My fledgling business is DoodlePippin, and I make jewellery, accessories and homewares from polymer and silver clay.

Like most people it started as a hobby, then I started selling a few pieces to friends, then did a couple of craft fairs last Christmas.. And here I am. Sound familiar?!

I've just started running polymer clay workshops in Horsham and at Hobbycraft Crawley which is a bit of a departure for me - I used to be a journalist!

I'm really glad to find a local Etsy group - and I'd love to meet up too.
My Facebook page is https://www.facebook.com/doodlepippindesigns.
My website is www.doodlepippin.co.uk
My Etsy shop is at https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/DoodlePippin

Re: Hello there! Introduction time!

Hi Clare

Thanks for setting up the group. I am surprised there are so many of us!

I make silver and gold jewellery and have had my Etsy shop for about three years. It is quite slow but I am getting a few sales here and there. Most of my work comes through selling on Not on the High Street.com but I also sell at craft fairs with The Sussex Guild of Craftsmen.

Nice to "meet" you all and will have a look at your Etsy shops later :)

Re: Hello there! Introduction time!

Hi all,
I've previously been part time freelance web designer and stay at home mum of two but now as the kids are getting older and i no longer do web design I have a bit more time so I sell paintings and do YouTube demo videos.
I've sold paintings all over the world thanks to the internet, but could do with selling more. I have some work on sale in The Old Bakery in Redhill (he's looking for Arts & Crafters work to fill his shop, btw). I have paintings hanging in Ruchita a restaurant in Earlswood and paintings in A&E East Surrey (in the reception and the relative's room).
I also do pet portrait commissions, they seem to be quite popular - people love their pets.
Looking forward to hearing about more of us in the area.
PS. Do you think we should keep conversations private?

Re: Hello there! Introduction time!

Hi all, I'm based in Reigate and I make jewellery - mostly wirework, beadwork and some silver.

I've been making for a few years as a hobby, but only recently have started to sell. I set up my Etsy shop towards the end of last year which is (very!) slowly taking off, have a done a couple of fairs and sell to friends and acquaintances.

It's great to see there are so many other people locally. I'm looking forward to exchanging tips and ideas and hopefully meeting up with some of you!

Re: Hello there! Introduction time!

Hi everyone!

I'm Steph and I also live in Redhill. I'm a PR Manager and only get to craft in my spare time unfortunately but of course, the dream would be to give it all up and sell my button art (and other bits and pieces) full time.

You all have such lovely shops and it would be great to meet up sometime soon and share ideas etc.

Enjoy the long weekend! :)

Hello all. I have been selling on Etsy for a couple of years, I hand screen print textiles. I worked as a Graphic designer in London for ten years, then had time at home to bring up my children, when the youngest started school I wanted to find something to do that would fit in around family life. I sell at craft fairs, Etsy, Folksy, and my own website.
It would be nice to meet up sometime.
