Re: ❤✿❤✿❤ Welcome! ❤✿❤✿❤

Thanks for inviting me in. I've been around for about 6 months and am getting a little antsey because of lack of sales. i keep asking myself if my product is not popular enough so I'm just now delving into diversification.

There are several things that I know that I need help with, and one is promoting. Since my funds are so limited, I have to cut back a little and I'm afraid that it will be the end of my shop

I'm looking forward to hearing from you guys. TIA

Hello, my name is mark. I am from brampton ontario. I think "versatile" would best describe me. I tend to build all sorts of items, do renovations, build new houses, etc. I have a passion for rescuing fallen trees and creating a new life for them. Basically I would like to show everyone that we dont have to let wood rot.... we can do anything with it... The easiest thing, I find, is creating my pieces/art. The hardest part for me would be ....well.....Descriptions, photography, tags and titles (SEO), promoting (social media), banner and avatar design ... In the four months i have had an etsy shop i only had one sale. it was last week. i have been working on pics and descrip but.... you know.

Hey, guys!

Welcome to the team! I browsed both your shops and I really like your work. In my opinion your lack of sales, is not due to the quality of your work, but everything else in your shop.

Donna here is what I'd do if this were my shop:

1. create a more appealing banner.
2. list more items
3. take better photos
4. write a lot more detailed descriptions - http://etsy.me/1CaYP5S
5. work on each items SEO (titles and tags) - http://etsy.me/1Cu9mre

I recommend you start reading through our team discussions. Especially this topic: http://etsy.me/18nThsc

Mark, you should do the same. I'm currently working on a DIY design Kit for creating your own professional banner and avatar. I will post here as soon as it's done.

All love, Andra

Re: ❤✿❤✿❤ Welcome! ❤✿❤✿❤

HI!! My name is Chris, I am from Washington, D.C, thanks for letting me join! As for what describes me best, I would say blunt and concise. I am very honest, to the point, and quickly so. I am just now giving Etsy a serious shot, but nothing about it is easy for me. I am horrible with technology, and therefore horrible at selling via the internet. I have a good personal network, in person, with my customers, but never have been able to grasp this online thing. I don't want to waste months diddle daddling, waiting on nothing before I decide what I am doing is wrong, mostly because I am sure what I am doing is not that right.. Any advice, pointers, are greatly appreciated.

Welcome, Chris!

You too have a lot to work on your shop. Same things I told Mark an Donna. You can't be successful unless you put a lot of effort into it and get your time and tasks organized. I know it's overwhelming. I feel the same, but once we'll get it right, I'm sure the feeling will be amazing. :)

Maybe try working on item at a time and improving all aspects of it: photos, SEO, titles, description, tags... Or take a couple of days to really learn about each aspect of posting an item and then change what it needs to be changed.

And whenever you stumble or become frustrated, come back here for advise and support.

All love, Andra

Re: ❤✿❤✿❤ Welcome! ❤✿❤✿❤

Hey Andra,

Thank you for inviting me.
To answer you questions:
- The word to describe me best is 'willing'. I really want to learn and improve myself.
- The message that I try to send out is my passion for forging and how these beautiful unique items can brighten up your home. I also have a passion for sound instrument that I would like to share around the world.
- It is hard to think of what is easiest to do on etsy, since I am new here I feel like everything is a guess and I am not sure how and where I can improve.
- At this point I really enjoy everything, but everything brings more questions. I wonder what to do with my photo's a lot.. white background or nature background or combine them like now... I also struggle with how to promote my items.

Good to see how other people are doing and what the things are that they are good and not so good at.

Re: ❤✿❤✿❤ Welcome! ❤✿❤✿❤

Hello everybody. My name is Nicole Hinske and I am relatively new to the DIY "Sales world. I have been creating items for family and friends. I appreciate any info anybody can give. Reading over the responses from many you, I am relieved that many of my questions and frustrations are the same that you are having.

1) "Determined" would best describe me. I have to make this work
2) My husband and I try to bring some fun and interesting art and decorations to your home or office.
3) The easiest part is taking the pictures. We are trying to figure out how to get better pictures though. We have tried on a black background to get the colors to "pop" but the details were getting lost as well as the size. We noticed that most of the pictures were taken hanging on the doors or walls.
4) Much like several of you, we find the descriptions, getting details in the pictures, being able to manage the internet (all the different sites etc) and production; however promotion or "getting our name out there" is the hardest part.

I have learned so much in the past few months, but like Jesse, everything brings more questions. It is great to see that I/we are not alone. Several of you have the same question I do. It is great to see so many other people chasing their dreams and following their passion.

Welcome, Jesse!

I'm so happy you accepted my invitation! I LOOOOVE your work!!!

Your photos are amazing! Your descriptions are very detailed. I would dare say, too detailed. :D You may want to space it out a little... Maybe add some bullet points... :)

Also I would make use of all the 140 characters in the title. :)

Promoting is a problem for me too. Mostly because I don't have the time for it. Maybe we'll have one of our members helping us out with tips about promoting.

All love, Andra

Re: ❤✿❤✿❤ Welcome! ❤✿❤✿❤

Welcome, Nicole!

I really like your work. The first thing I noticed when I entered your shop was that your descriptions are a little cluttered and you don't talk about size at all. I would do this to make it easier for the eyes to follow:

"Paris theme Wreath.

Made with light pink, hot pink, silver and black mesh and decorated with Paris themed ribbon, black shiny velvet ribbon and pink shiny wired ribbon. Pink and white Jewels are attached all around the wreath and a black high shine mesh and Paris ribbon bow are attached at the bottom of the wreath. Glittery hot pink and silver ornaments are attached throughout and a metal Eiffel Tower fixture is attached in the middle. Perfect for every day or a birthday wreath initials can be attached to the Eiffel tower for additional charge.

Wreath shown and all decorations are subject to availability and changes. Any changes will be approved by buyer prior to. Additional charges may apply depending on any additional items requested.

A matching garland can be made to go with this wreath to be put around your door or on your mantle (separate pricing available for garland or discount if both purchased).

This is perfect for any of your little fashionistas and/or birthday princesses"

And you definitely need to list more items. The more you have, the better your chances are to be found in search.

All love!

Andra

Re: ❤✿❤✿❤ Welcome! ❤✿❤✿❤

I'm Becca, and I would probably describe myself as enthusiastic. My business is about creating beautiful things to share with the world!

The easiest part of having an Etsy shop is to find inspiration and craft my unique items. However, let's just say that everything else is surprisingly difficult! I haven't made any sales yet, even though I worked hard to research SEO and promoting. I was thinking maybe I need more items? I have supplies to make a couple wallets, and I have lots more photography to list...if anyone has any tips or advice, I would love to hear your ideas!

Re: ❤✿❤✿❤ Welcome! ❤✿❤✿❤

This is a great forum. Exactly what I need. Thank you.
I just opened my Etsy shop...like tonight. I'm looking for a shove in the right direction.

So first word that comes to mind is 'intimidated.' I've done a ton of research, and it seems to be successful, it is an overwhelming task. Everything says it takes time, which is understandable, but I'm not quite sure what is most important to start with. But 'stubborn' and 'determined' are my other words. So, I'll figure it out...eventually. :)

My business is all about pieces of life fitting together to make a whole. Everything coming together to make a stronger person. Not a perfect one, but everyone is lovely...because of what they've been through. Just like what I'm hoping to create. My shop doesn't have much in it right now, I'm still building inventory and also waiting on some supplies (for some hand stamped jewelry), and I had to just open it...or I would just keep putting it off.

Anyway, I'm not quite sure where to begin with it all. Or how to promote especially since I'm not really settled in yet.
Thank you!
