High-end craft shows in Southern Oregon this Spring and Summer?

Hey, there!

I'm a weaver in Wolf Creek, Oregon, and am looking for venues to sell my handwoven garments this coming Spring and Summer. Does anyone know of good craft shows in the area? Anywhere from Ashland to Portland near the I-5 corridor works for me!

Enjoy the new, beautiful weather!

I'm copying your post to the Ashland team, there are some sellers there that know all the good craft shows.

Re: High-end craft shows in Southern Oregon this Spring and Summer?

I can tell you the quality shows I do that have proven to be excellent over the years....

May 7 & 8, Mothers Day weekend, "Art In Bloom", Downtown on Main Street, in Medford http://www.art-in-bloom.com/

August, "River Art Walk" in Shady Cove http://www.upperrogue.org/riverwalk/index.htm

August/September, tba, "Jacksonville Celebrates the Arts", in Jacksonville http://www.oregonfestivals.org/node/2454

November, "Nazarene Holiday Show", on McAndrews Road, in Medford

Some of these are not easy to get into and may have a waiting list but they are the best in the area. I would not consider a show that didn't have a jury or high standards.

Re: High-end craft shows in Southern Oregon this Spring and Summer?

Hi,

My husband makes a living as an artist doing art shows and as far as Oregon goes he does Lake Oswego Festival of the Arts, Art in the Pearl, and Salem Art Fair. Those have proved best for his work. (Contemporary glass) I do think the application date is past though...

Good luck!

WE are having a meeting Next tuesday in Grants Pass at Elmers at 10 am if anyone would like to come...Come for as long as you can.

I am making up a discussion topic list. Is there anything you can add to the list you would like to share or add to the list? I will send the list the day before we meet so we can all have an idea what people are asking.

Looking forward to seeing you Tuesday at 10 am at Elmers Restaurant...

I am excited!

WeavingMonk: there's always Ashland 4th of July. They priced me out with the booth at $150 (and I told them so) but it's huge and there are people with money there! good luck.

I did that show once, never again. It was not only extremely hot but the crowds of people were not spending. At least not in my booth. There were imported items allowed and I found it impossible to see anything I had due to the low standards that were set because of this. That's a lot of money to spend for one day with no sales.

Great discussion. I don't know if you're interested, but there is a pretty good turn-out for the 4th of July fair in Mt. Shasta, California. It's not too far from Southern Oregon - about 85 miles or so.

Here's a link to the vendor info. It's also has a walk/run, which is a draw, too.

If anyone is interested and would like to possibly share a booth/costs, I'm considering this venue for my jewelry stands & fabric/fat quarters.

Re: High-end craft shows in Southern Oregon this Spring and Summer?

additional note:

the 2-day booth rental is $80 per day and might be a better option than the 3-day for $310 for a 10x10 booth. That's for the Mt. Shasta 4th of July fair, if anyone's interested. I have a dear friend who lives in Jacksonville, OR that I visit often and also do a lot of shopping in Southern Oregon...home away from home for me.

Jacksonville has a good one over Labor Day for 2 or 3 days. I tried it once and didn't make much money but it was a good experience...

Mari,
I hope you will give Jacksonville another chance. That is a great show for me. I love the fact that the restrooms are inside and not in one of those awful blue sweat box portable bathrooms, lol. The show in Shady Cove next month is good too but hate those things.

Do you remember me? I was in the booth across from you two years ago! I thought you did well at that show?

If you are who I think you are, I met you at the McAndrews Market Place when I was selling aprons. Was that you?

Re: High-end craft shows in Southern Oregon this Spring and Summer?

Greetings:

I just moved here from California. I did the Barter Market and Craft Faire in Williams yesterday. While I had a good time and people loved the unusual things I make (clever upcycling), I sold only one small item. It didn't even cover my entry fee or gas to drive there. I just had to reframe the experience in my mind as an opportunity to educate people about recycling.

I really want to find venues that are better suited to selling my creations in Southern Oregon. I have yet to find something around Earth Day. That would be the very best venue for me. Any ideas?

Thanks to all the leads posted here. It's wonderful being part of this great community...Etsy and Southern Oregon.
