So today was my first trial day.

I picked a day and decided to test my tenacity and time management skills ( I have A.D.H.D. so, self discipline is hard) I worked a 10 hour day crocheting and sewing ALL day. I gave myself two 15-min breaks and a 1/2 hour lunch. Is there any advice or tips on other things to help out for effective time management?

Try a free day where you work when you want and when you don't work use the time to do things other than crocheting and sewing. The other time can be used for other business tasks or for some personal things you'd like to do.

Re: So today was my first trial day.

That's a great idea, Jacque. Also, set aside one or two days per month to get your tax info in order. I keep a running spreadsheet so that, when I "feel like it," I take backed-up receipts and input all the information into the spreadsheet. That way, I don't have to do it all at once to pay quarterly sales tax, nor do I have to freak out and look in 15 places for all the receipts and then add them up to do yearly.

Keeping track of ALL tax info per quarter, and not just income, is a great way to take some stress off that paperwork every year. I also file in early January, so that "tax time" doesn't mean anything to me! It's the best stress buster! :D

Also, I'd give myself way more than 1/2 hour for lunch. I'm Latin, so I have to have my siesta! Make work FUN and COMFORTABLE for you and your style of living. Being organized and self-managed doesn't mean you have to be your own sweat shop!

Good luck!

I kinda have to schedule myself since I work retail. on the plus side, itunes keeps me running and no matter how hard i craft on any given day, the MALL is always the enemy and working at home is quite relaxing!

@craftystuff
Agreed! I work retail too for my full time job and working at home and not at the mall is the ultimate goal!

I agree! Take an hour for lunch. :). You don't want to burn yourself out. You might want to try taking more breaks so you don't end up in the chiropractor's office. Lol. I admire your drive!

I'm a list maker. When I have to get things done, without distractions I make a list with the most urgent at the top. Plus I stay off the Internet, especially the forums... my quick ten minutes ion the computer will turn into a hour quickly. Also because you'll be using your hands and wrists, do those little wrist and hand excercises every 1/2 hour for a minute or two.
