Has anyone ordered supplies through AliExpress?

I'm just wondering if anyone has ordered from the vendors on AliExpress. They say free shipping on most items but you may be responsible for import duties and taxes if any. I'm trying to find out how I can figure out if my order would incur those additional expenses.

I've not ordered specifically from them but I do have a number of international suppliers where I really have to watch how much I order at any one time. Simply because of the horrendous duties that need to be paid if I'm over the limit.

When ordering anything from outside of your own country there is always the possibility that you will need to pay import duties, just as when you ship to another country your buyer needs to be aware of any import duties that they may need to pay.

I've never ordered anything from out of the country before. Someone said the limit is $200. If your order more than that you pay import fees. I'm just trying to find out if that is true or not. I've done a little research but can't find any site that says it specifically.
Crochetgal, does $200 sound about right to you? Have you had to pay any other fees to bring the product into the United States? I'm tempted to just order a couple small things but don't want to get burned either.

It will depend on what you are ordering and where you are ordering from.

There are different duty free limits depending on what you are importing.

I'd suggest that you contact the US Customs office to find out exactly what the exemption limits are.

I've paid duty on as little as $50 in value and not had to pay duty on packages that were over $500 in value. It all depends on what the items are that are being imported.
