My celebration: Since opening on January 11 with this shop, I have averaged 150 views per day, got my listings to 45, and had 6 sales!!!

i was made redundant two years ago with only one month to find a job. Unfortunately I did not get a part time jobs for three months. During that time I tried to make my Etsy shop work, which I finally closed as it was not reaching the target market. but I spent time promoting my craft, dressmaking, talking to local shops and advertising locally. This has resulted in me receiving on going work, more than I can coped with. I love the idea of selling to a wider community, hence my continued presence on Etsy and on my personal website.

My advise is to keep at it, don't rely on Etsy as your main sales avenue. Belief in yourself and your art.

Positivity is like a magnet. I now have a full time job which I love and I still continue to get custom orders. LoL, I love it.

and Pam ... I have to chuckle at the word choice your company used "You've been made redundant" That smacks of crass.

At least I was just "eliminated" ... which is probably more terminal sounding than "redundant" altho the outcome is the same ... we're launching ourselves full force into self - employment!

I wish I'd had Tilly's option (take a stance and be proud of it!).

Thanks for all the support and advice everybody!! I've gained several new mottos this month and the main one is "I Can Do This" ...

Ugh 'eliminated' is such a cold term. Makes me think of the George Clooney film Up In The Air where he travels the US firing people for other companies.

Tilly, you're right, there is no "nice" or "soft" way to say a person is no longer needed. Doesn't matter what we call it. ugh.

I'm choosing to look at this as an opportunity to launch my business and do something "I want to do" instead of "have to do".

Just hit 56 items in my store!....Been a little bummed because sales have slowed down....

Thinking of doing a "free shipping" promo to boost sales...

Can I ask everyone how much you spend on weekly ads?....Trying to figure out a fair number....so tricky!

After a hideous few weeks in our personal lives our good happy news is both shops are now running at a profit :D Couldn't have happened at a better time!

My celebration is that I just passed 1000 Etsy sales which was personal goal.
