No sales

I opened my store in early September 2019. The last sale was on October 17, 2019.

4 months have passed and no order has been received. There was advertising, I’m only losing money on it.

Does it make sense to wait for orders or go to some other platform?

Thanks

Re: No sales

I’m having the same problem, I’m not sure what to do. I get a few views and favorites, but never any orders.

Re: No sales

DryShine,

Your titles are too short. If you're selling a crocheted animal try the following example.

Girafferey - In would use this as my title: Amigurumi Giraffe, Button Eyes, One of a Kind, Collectible Giraffe, Hand Made     Then, copy and paste these exact words in the Tags. It's very important to add tags to your listings and the words in your tags should be in the exact same order as your title. Also very important is in the description, Copy and Paste the first three in the first line of the description. Example: Amigurumi Giraffe, Button Eyes, One of a Kind

In the listing where it says "Craft Type" be sure you check Crochet and Doll Making. I know this isn't a doll but it fits into that type.

Next, where it says "Occasion" check Birthday. Where it says "Holiday" check Christmas. Where it says "Materials" put yarn.

Pictures are very important. They should be at least 2000 pixels wide. You should take pictures of different views (front, side back, etc.).

If you're not on Pinterest, get on!!!! Post pictures of what you sell on Pinterest. Find out if there are Pinterest boards you can join and post your items to. When you post something on Pinterest just open up the main page your item is on. At the top of that listing where it says, "Listing Tools" click on the P Save and that will take you to Pinterest. (You have to have Pinterest open in another window.)  Once you post the picture on Pinterest and someone sees it and clicks on it, that will take them directly to your listing in Etsy.

ALL of this important in getting sales.

I hope this helps.

Re: No sales

Hello, I watched many videos on YouTube when I decided to reopen my shop. I took a little bit from each succesful seller and learned a lot. 1. SEO, 2. PICTURES, 3. PRODUCT, 4. PRICE. All of these will determine the success of your shop. Ask a person who can provide constructive feedback to audit your store. See how your products compare to you competitors.  Are you targeting the right audience? There are many caviots that will determine your success. Watch videos from other ETSY sellers. Sign up for online sales training. Even taking a photography class might help. You would be surprised at how much free information is available online to help you with your sales. Please let me know if you would like to go over your shops. I am happy to help in any way I can.

Re: No sales

Hello cardsbymarie, I would be happy for you to check out my shop to see how I might improve it! I am 81 years old and wanting to supplement my income by selling my paintings and prints on line. I am still trying to learn how to get around on Etsy, as I didn't grow up with a computer so not very computer savvy!  Thank you for any suggestions you might have for me, wildflowerartbyjoyce

Re: No sales

Ever heard the saying "Patience is a virtue."  Well it's also a pain in the neck!!

Your store is so young. Give it some time.  That said, promote your store on all the other social media sites.  Ask people to check out your Etsy store and give you feed back.  People love to help and give their opinion. Even if you dont agree with them, at least you are getting eyes on your page.  Good luck.

Re: No sales

Hi-  I opened my store around the same date you did and had similar results.  The fact of the matter is that Etsy is over saturated with competition and it’s extremely hard to stand out amongst the millions of other Esty Shops.

I have had luck with sales however because I used my own social media accounts to advertise, created new business social media accounts and asked friends/coworkers/family that wanted to buy artwork from me to do it through Etsy to get my sales number up.

Try focusing on getting your following up on Instagram by following artists and using as many hashtags as the platform allows on every post.

I grew my social media from 0 followers to almost 2,000 in a few months and landed some bigger clients.  Don’t give up!

Re: No sales

Getting my first few sales was a struggle for me, months would go by without any for the longest time. Here are a few tips that might help:

-Like DKZOO said, set up an Instagram for your business and make a quality post each day, with plenty of hashtags.

-Take high quality photos of your products with a clean white background (you can view my listings to see some examples). Your photos are what draw people in, high quality professional looking photos will mean the difference between clicking on your listing or the other guy's. Buy a lightbox or build your own and use a free software like GIMP to white balance your photos. Product photos with a clean white background are something of an industry standard for online selling (for example Amazon).

-Research how SEO works on Etsy, there are a lot of articles about this. Again you can see my listings for examples of how your titles should look, I basically cram as many keywords as possible in there to match as many searches as I can. Also choose keywords that layman would type into a search bar, avoid technical terminology.

-Most importantly, don't give up. Getting online sales is all a numbers game. More listings means more visits which means more sales. Keep chipping away and expanding your catalogue. I hardly got any traffic when I had eight listings up, keep building and listing and you will see more traffic.

Hope this helps, best of luck!

Re: No sales

When I started my shop, a lot of getting out there (realize I’ve still only made 15 sales, so I’m not doing GREAT or anything) was word of mouth but I also started an Instagram specifically for my, with my shop URL in the bio, and started posting about my products, different art/hand-lettering I’d done, and was just getting out there as much as possible.

Re: No sales

Hey Natalie, hang in there honey. I opened CrochetMeKnotsShop in 2018 and only got orders from friends. 2 to be exact.  I advertised and offered free shipping to be put 1st like Etsy suggested.  I watched youtube about words to use. Etsy itself has a lot of good suggestions on their site. But it all takes time.  Etsy has put out commercials about how artist in Etsy are handmade and even appeals to the recycling desire in people.  My target audience is 40-75 yr old women.  Perhaps if you think of your target audience that would help.  In 2019 I finally received 2 orders from strangers. One is Washington State and one in Maine.  This showed me that my little shop was being see in the whole of USA.  Keep trying.  Promote your Ersy Shop on all other media. I even have it on my business cards and my banner for my craft fair booths.  Good luck boo.  I'll look up your shop and start following you too.  You got this!!

Re: No sales

Love the concept of your shop  and  shop design. I think you have to give it a chance.  It does take time. You need more items in your shop...

1: Try and get up to 50 items in your shop.

2: Make sure your keywords are good.

3: Work on your descriptions. Tell them why they should buy it... I am trying to do this as mine are not great
