Lack of sales and visits

Hi everyone!

I would appreciate some help and advice.

Only made two sales during the year. Can anybody look at my shop and say what I must to do?

Thanks

Michael

Re: Lack of sales and visits

Your shop and items look great to me! I'm not really an expert though. I noticed you only have 2 sales and no reviews yet. It's tough getting started. I only have 8 sales and 2 reviews on my shop. I'm not getting much traffic either, having to try to generate my own traffic over to Etsy. I'm planning to try Etsy advertising soon, I won't know how well it works until I try it. That might be a helpful option for you.

Re: Lack of sales and visits

Michael, you're items are super cute! It is hard starting out and trying to get traction. Here are a couple of things I would suggest.

1. You might want to add a banner or logo to your shop so it gives the perception to buyers you are professional business/a selling entity.

2. I would fill out all of the shop information like about, appearance, shop policies...I don't see anything about you in your shop. Buyers want to get to know the artist, as well as, your policies.

3. I would retake all your photos as they all have different shades of lighting, different backgrounds and some are even cut off so you can't see all the products. I took an online course with Amy Eaton (https://amytakespictures.com/) and she is an amazing product photographer. She has totally changed how my images look in my shop (https://www.etsy.com/shop/HardElements). They are brighter and more stylized so the buyers can really see what they are purchasing...and you don't need a fancy camera...I use my cell phone for all my pictures but I edit them in LightRoom and Amy teaches you how to do all that. If that's not for you, just ensure you have a neutral background and the lighting is even for every main photo so collectively the products look cohesive together.

4. You might want to reword your titles a little because those are your search words for Etsy and your products. So maybe change to Mosaic Wall Art Seaglass Artwork Home Decor Pottery Tiles Gift for Her....something to that effect. It's always good to go to best seller pages of similar items and see what they have for titles to give you better ideas. Then, the words you use in the title should be at least in the first and second sentence of your product description. Somehow you need to kind of match up the content and title words because that good portion of how to be found...besides the tags etc. If you Google how to improve Etsy search, there is tons of info on that.

5. I'm not sure why your shipping cost is says $33.25 but I would fix that. I don't think many would pay that when others are doing free shipping. Not sure it's on all of your products but it's on this one: https://www.etsy.com/listing/790778382/mosaic-heart-mosaic-picture-mosaic-art?ref=shop_home_active_5.

6. Your categories on your left nav might be defined a little different. Maybe something like Celestial, Hearts, Home & Living..in the future you could have Flowers for example, it just depends on what you are creating. Try to put them in an collective, general category. I believe those are Etsy search words too.

7. This is just what I do and makes things look cleaner, I round up my price so if they are $39.90, I would change it to $40, if it's $46.55, I would make it $47. You could round down too either way.

I really hope all this helped! I know how hard it is, I'm really going through the same thing too and I'm consistently trying to find the magic for search and visibility. I wish you all the luck.

Re: Lack of sales and visits

Thank you for taking the time to look at my shop and your great words of advice, I certainly need to learn fast to sell on Etsy. FYI, I have sold @100 at my local craft fair, sadly closed due to Covid, and only 2 on Etsy - says it all really. Kind regards. Michael

Re: Lack of sales and visits

I feel your pain Michael!  I always sold incredibly well at craft fairs and have had a hard time with Etsy sales.  Its tough to tell a story when your not in person.  I had slow but steady sales all last year and up through the end of summer but its completely fallen off, views and sales.  I sell one of a kind jewelry which is an over crowded market but always managed to sell enough to make it worth while, not so sure any more.  I agree with everything the previous seller said.  Just keep playing around with photos and wording till it takes off.  Also I would explore other ways to  advertise, use your craft fair email list and takes lots of photos, maybe even offer a special deal to prior customers.  I have used pintrest a little also, set up a page with a link to your etsy page, join a group of other sellers and see where it goes, its free so just your time is invested.

Check out my page and feel free to give any feed back!  etsy.com/shop/chelseamarketdesigns

Best of luck

Jackie
