Lets use this thread to add info about how it works (tips, info, and questions)
Stumbleupon gets much easier when you download the toolbar buttons. After you have the buttons then all you have to do is click the thumbs up button when you are on a page you want to stumble ( like a shop page) then add tags and a short review. The most important thing is the tags. You want to add at least 6 or 7 tags so that those who are interested in similar items can find that shop or item. Reviews don't need to be long just one or two sentences. If someone has already Stumbled that page then it won't ask you for a review you just add your thumbs up!

Re: How Stumbleupon works

I thought from what I read that one of the goals IS to get lots of reviews.. not just thumbs up.. when you favorite something- there is a link that says edit near your shop name and you can add a review. The more reviews you have-- the more people want to look at your things.

Re: How Stumbleupon works

In order to get your thumbs up and reviews to count;
1. hit the thumbs up
2. if the review panel comes up, leave a review
3. hit the bubble that says info
4. hit the link for the item
5. hit the thumbs up "like" again and watch the count go up

Re: How Stumbleupon works

@ Sue-
When you hit the persons stumble link, it brings you to their stumble page, over in the right hand corner is a green follow button, click on it and you are then following them. Hope that helps :)

Re: How Stumbleupon works

@AngelScarfs - Yes, Stumble changed their practices, we found this out in our other team when we were doing reviews and our views on the items weren't showing up. You have to hit the thumbs up once, it will either send you to do a review on the item, or if one has already been reviewed will send you directly to the page, when you are there, hit the link for the item, it will send you back to the originating page, then hit the thumbs up again. What it does, basically, is gives it the proper feedback, stumble knows you seriously like the product, then it sends it out into the public. When we did it this way, the hits on our products went through the ceiling. I have gotten 2 sales off of Stumble since we started doing it the way stumble wants it done. 2 sales isn't alot, but I'll take it, it's a start.

Re: How Stumbleupon works

Hi Everyone! I too am new to stumbled upon. Newbie question: How do I stumble my own Etsy shop? I've tried stumbling items within it but my shop never comes up. Could anyone give me pointers? Thank you so much for the help!

Re: How Stumbleupon works

Every time I click the like button from the StumbleUpon toolbar, there's a pop up window that asks me "Is this site safe for work?"
how can I make it disappear?

Re: How Stumbleupon works

@Lacey; Stumble doesn't like alot of self promotion, your best bet is to have somebody on this team or a friend stumble your items for you. If you have a new item that you are posting, once in a while you can promote it yourself. From the stumble tool bar hit the thumbs up, tag and review (just copy and paste some of your product description), hit the info balloon, hit the link, then hit the thumbs up again. I can not stress this enough, DO NOT DO THIS alot, stumble will close your account for you. Found this out while stumbling today :)

Re: How Stumbleupon works

@Natalie; Unfortunately I don't think you can, some on my other team have written to stumble, it is some sort of safety feature. Just click it and go on your merry way, they are in the process of updating stumble, I myself am waiting to hear about the new features before I upgrade mine. There are supposedly a few little glitches in it right now that have to be worked out, when I know anything I can post it here, if it is alright with our Captain :)

Re: How Stumbleupon works

So it seems that you can only add 5 tags. Does anyone else find this to be accurate?

Thanks!
Mandy
