How long have you been on here? I am fairly new (only been a month) and obviously my sales are low. But recently I made 2 sales by lowing prices for 2 weeks as on offer. I have heard you can do vouchers, but haven't tried that option.
Have you got a facebook page? I promote, promote. promote on it daily and try to keep a blog updated.
I am not the best person to get advice off of as I am new but this is stuff people have told me to do. Hopefully it helps?!

Re: Suggestions?
Um, I've been doing this since mid June I would say? Not quite sure. I had a lot of sales at first now it just seems dead. Yes, I do have a Facebook page. I promote my store and FB everywhere but no one seems to be interested. :(

From everything I've read on all the forums, this seems fairly normal - it truly does just take time and constant work at promoting your shop to get your name out there and get to the point where you are consistently busy. I've only been on Etsy for about 2 weeks and I peruse the forums every day for helpful advice from experienced sellers. The number one thing seems to be that it does just take some time and hard work. :O) We'll get there!

Re: Suggestions?
I've read everyone's comments and all of you are correct. I'll throw a few things in the mix too.
I have been on Etsy now for several years and I didn't get help right away and I didn't know what I was doing. The best thing I did for myself was to find a mentor with more experience and success.
I didn't do anything right to begin with but my mentor really helped me. She helped me with my photography, my listings, the descriptions, shipping, and promoting. She was a godsend. My sales began to come in, albeit slowly, if you know of any overnight success stories they are like freaks of nature they don't happen often and their success usually slows down like everyone else, and they have ups and downs like the rest of us.
I am now a Team Captain and I work hard to keep up the morale of my team mates as I see them struggle and want to quit because they think they are complete failures. And they don;t know what they are doing wrong, they always blame themselves and they have doubts about their products, they begin to think their stuff isn't as good as others, so they start lowering their prices. Wrong thing to do.
All of you were right when you said it just takes time, it does. It takes hard work, you have to promote, promote, and promote some more and when you think you're done promote some more. But..............not all promotion is good and worthwhile promotion. So choose your promotion methods wisely.
Get yourself onto a clicking team, get on a circle clicking team, make treasuries every day or as often as you can. I won;t tell you to forget about Twitter and FB but I will tell you this, I personally have found them useless and a waste of time. But you do what works for you. Try it out and see what makes your views go up Twitter or Clicking. I know the answer. During this slow period my views are up in the 700's daily that's while things are slow and off season. When the holiday season gets going they will go above a 1000-1200 or so per day.
Another thing you want to do is work on your tags and make sure they are good tags. Join a team where you can learn about tagging and there are ebooks available for as little as $6 , well worth it for what you will learn. The most important thing is to get people to see your stuff, you need Google to send people your way, also Etsy, so become knowledgeable about tags, and do them right. You will have views.
I know that I've covered a lot here on the other hand there is so much more. Promotion is the most important thing to do, but do it right and you will succeed.

What do you mean by clicking teams? Do you have any links to some teams like that?

Re: Suggestions?
Linda,
There is a team called the CindyLouWhoTeam - Cindy has written an Ebook all about tags "How To Be Relevant On Etsy" it costs $6. It is well worth even more than that. Then of course there is her team to help keep you informed and where you can ask questions.

Jennifer
About clicking, when we click on an item or favorite it, that item goes into our activity stream. So everyone that is in your circle will see that item. However, each one of those in your circle also have their own circles. That means that your item has the possibility of being seen 1000 plus times, (I am in more than 1000) circles. Then each of my 1000 circles let's say they each have 1000 in their circles so that means that your items will be run again in the activity feed another 1000 times for each shop that is in my circle then in the 1000 circles of each of those, and it goes on and on.
What that means is that you get the views you need. Instead of getting a hand full of views from Twitter or Facebook, you get hundreds of views. You will probably be getting (depending on how many circles you are in) about 500 views a day while things are slow and that number will fluctuate between probably 500 and 1000 a day.
I am on the PromoPros Team, you might check it out. We are a team of people who have agreed to click (favor) 4 items per day on each members items every day. So we all help each other that way.I hope that explains what clicking is. You can convo me if you want,
