Pricing for Beadweaving?

My shop is centered on one-of-a-kind, bead woven and embroidered jewelry. These pieces take time to design and make, and also have a perceived value in being OoaK.

My formula for pricing has been, well, not very formulaic. I factor in materials, then just scout out similar items and price accordingly. I couldn't even begin to consider an hourly rate as an option, and I'm not really sure what people are willing to pay for items like mine.

So, fellow beadweavers- how do you price your work?
Buyers- would you pay the prices I've set? Are they high? Low?

Any input is welcome! Thanks!

Re: Pricing for Beadweaving?

The prices of your items seem fine to me, shame you don't deliver outside the US, is there any particular reason for that?
I think you could definitely pull in more buyers by using photos of models wearing your jewellery and stocking your shop up some more

If you're unsure about prices I'd check out other sellers who sell similar items to yourself and place yourself around the middle to high end regarding prices, or you could also check out this page to help you with pricing your jewellery

Re: Pricing for Beadweaving?

Thanks for the additional suggestions- I've had several comments recently about the lack of a model photo. As to international shipping...I just haven't looked in to it much. I guess I just don't think that I trust letting something be shipped that far. But, so many sellers do it here, so the fear has got to be unfounded.

The problem I have with the formula from the link is that once I add all of those elements together...I end up with an enormous price tag. And looking around here on Etsy, it looks like many similar items aren't priced that way either. That's why I was wondering how they get those prices. Right now, I've only got (materials x2 + $10/hour labor) or sometimes even less. Maybe everyone else in the category is just way faster at the craft than I am. Hm.

Thanks for the input =)

Re: Pricing for Beadweaving?

yeah might be something to look into further, I know they had an online lab session about pricing a while back. It might be worth checking one out. What might help is to imagine a retailer asked to buy around 30-50 of your pieces for 50% of the cost, is this a price you'd be willing to accept as wholesale? If not your retail prices are too low. Remember you don't have to judge your pricing in the same way as others; many are known for undervaluing their pieces
