Pricing Issues - am I underselling myself?

Ok, I just did the math with Etsy's pricing calculator, which indicates I should be selling each stationery set (10 sheets + 5 envelopes) for $24. NOT going to happen. I got that number with my materials ($5), expenses ($2), labor ($5), NO profit = $12...

So, does this mean that I can just never sell wholesale? How do other sellers keep their stationery & card prices so low? Is my print shop overcharging me? I don't know what to do, I'm at a loss.

Re: Pricing Issues - am I underselling myself?

Ciara,

Is it possible for you to do your own printing to cut that cost down a bit?
Have you received many offers for wholesale pricing?
You could take your prices on the one you mentioned to $15 to see if you notice a difference in sales and interest for example and go from there.

Pricing is difficult....also check to see if your printer wilk give you a better price on larger quantities.

Re: Pricing Issues - am I underselling myself?

Thanks for the ideas Cocokate! Right now I can't afford a printer so I have to outsource, plus they can do a lot of work quickly (I don't have to trim all of my own sheets, which would take forever). I might up the price on a few and see if that changes anything... thanks again!

Also, I do consignment only because of this... and basically I break even on consignment.
