Are my prices too high?

Hi everyone!
Thanks for letting me join this team! I am excited to be a part of it!

I just opened my shop a few days ago. I priced things based on the pricing equation Etsy discusses in the Seller Handbook & now I'm wondering what all of you think. Would you mind checking out my shop and letting me know if you think my prices need some adjustments? Thank you!

Hey Bridget! Cute shop! I love your pictures, you've done a great job. I'd say your prices are very reasonable as well. I'm eager to see what items you add to it in the future! Keep up the good work! :)

Bridget,

I haven't spent much time in Etsy's vintage shops, but based on what I've seen in brick-and-mortar shops and that infamous auction site that begins with an "e", your prices are just fine; and your shop is attractive.

Work on your shop's SEO (since you're new, that's Search Engine Optimization): for instance, your shop section labelled "Shop Announcement" really isn't best used for shop announcements, but is VERY important for attracting potential customers on Google -- one of those things they don't tell you about when you're first setting up your shop here on Etsy.

Re: Are my prices too high?

I'm not a pro at Vintage Shops by far but I LOVE your photos. You have done an excellent job. I think your prices are reasonable and you shop is amazing. Work on your SEO a bit more but that's all the advice I can give you.

Thanks JD for the tip on shop announcements. I didn't really know what to do with it and was tempted not to put anything.

Cheri, thanks for the compliments! I think you're right SEO is top priority.

First of all, great photos. You may want to consider pricing the books on a rare book dealer site, since they tend to depend more on edition, competitor costs, etc.

Re: Are my prices too high?

No prob. Its a great question. Started my own thread on the topic just the other night as I recently raised prices on my shop.

If your consulting an official price guide of some sort you also might want to reference it. I always quote my social media rates (the other thing I do) as the annual "Writers Market" guide average because I use it to determine my rates.
